4.0 out of 5 starsA very good printer ... a few workable issues + a toner tip
Reviewed in the United States ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ on November 10, 2018
Been using the Dell H625 printer about a year (~50-100 mixed b&w/color pages per month) + some doc scanning.
Pros:
1. Relatively quick for small color jobs, generally it just works with no fuss.
2. Accepts generic toner cartridges without complaint. (Note: Printer manufactures will all warn you using generic toner violates the warranty (it does) and may cause evil spirits to emanate from the printer (none so far). Note: there ARE some dodgy generic toner cartridge makers out there ...so exercise caution and read reviews. So far, generics work well for me)
Cons:
1. Initial printer setup for scan to computer (with Windows 10) was a hassle. Scan selection from the printer panel is a PITA, but scanning using the DELL computer app works ok.
2. Toner... Ok, I get the whole "manufactures make big $$$ on replacement toner" thing. What I object to is the printer refuses to print if 1 color is out, even if itโ€™s a color youโ€™re not using. But there is a good trick that works as a temp workaround (I urgently needed to get 3 pages printed and had no replacement toner)
โ€ข Go to Printer Control Panel Setup Menu (little gear symbol)
โ€ข Select Tools (top RH tab)
โ€ข Select Admin Settings
โ€ข Select Maintenance
โ€ข Scroll down menu and select Non-Dell Toner mode
โ€ข Select Non-Dell Toner to ON
โ€ข Return to Main Menu
โ€ข Turn off the printer for couple minutes then turn it back on
Note: IMHO this should only be a temporary setting, as you will have no Toner Level visibility in this mode.

1.0 out of 5 starsGood printer, horrible documentation, worse support
Reviewed in the United States ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ on July 12, 2016
I bought this printer for my home. I'm an IT professional but I work outside the home. Let me start by saying that I think this will be a great printer but I'm a few days into setting this printer up and I am amazed at how painful the setup is. The installer on dell.com didn't work on my Dell laptop running Win10. I was able to get the drivers installed there and also in Ubuntu but I was never able to figure out why the Software Suite kept failing. The documentation is humorously inadequate. The page on how to set up the fax says "Connect the telephone cable" and shows a picture of connecting the cable. That's it. There are fax settings in the printers menu but you'd never know it from the manual. The instructions for WiFi, USB, ethernet, etc. are the same way. So maybe the manual is just the basics and the Dell website will provide more detailed instructions? Yes and no. After some digging around I've been able to find some more detailed guides on the website but a lot of it is generic guidance for all Dell printers, nothing specific to this printer. The printer is advertised as supporting AirPrint, Google Cloud Print and Mopria but I don't see those anywhere in their support documentation. This printer has a great scanner that supports scan to email, USB, network drive and more but I haven't found a single word about scanning in their support documentation.

Update 10/11/16: DO NOT BUY THIS PRINTER. The second or third time I tried using the feeder tray on top it got jammed. I cleared the jam but could never get it working again. I called Dell and of course the first they asked was for the Service Tag. Well, somehow my service tag is listed in their system as a different printer model so they couldn't help me at all. They referred me to customer care, who referred me to the service tag dept, who referred me to customer care... After a month and several hour long phone calls, Dell told me tonight that the feeder tray issue is a common issue with this printer and they would "escalate" my issue but I still run into the service tag issue every time I talk to them (it hasn't been corrected) and my printer is still broke. I'm optimistic that I'll eventually get it fixed and be happy with the printer. If so, I'll update this review but I would definitely not buy this printer again if given the choice.

It's a decent printer, but has a major design flaw. The scanner auto document feeder pops open randomly and causes the machine to error out. Even after repeated attempts to close it, it pops right back open again. After speaking with Dell support, we managed to get a replacement unit, however it developed the same issue after a few months. Still waiting to hear back from Dell, so in the meantime, I've weighed it down with a 3-hole punch. Occasionally I forget the hole punch is there and launch it when I open the scanner door, sending paper confetti everywhere. Janitorial probably hates me now, so thanks for that, Dell.

Update 2/2/2017: So Dell has since re-engineered the scanner feed door, and sent a repair technician to replace it with the updated part. I'll bump up the rating for that fact.

4.0 out of 5 stars Dell Tech support very poor on this product. Product works well after a very dificult setup and no help from Dell
Reviewed in the United States ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ on February 2, 2017

Printer works well once you get it completely configured. Manual is worthless and a waste of paper. Scan to computer is somewhat problematic and doesn't work unless you connect USB cable as well as Ethernet cable.

Scan to email will not work with Gmail, Dell Tech support spent more time trying to upsell to a paid warranty claiming that Scan to Email was a premium paid warranty feature only. Real problem is that it just doesn't work with Gmail, works fine on POP3 Road Runner email.

Dell support although listed as Chat, Phone, and onsite was very poor on scan functions, automatic setup disk did not even setup or instruct on Scan features. Research on web complaint boards found the Gmail issues and correct settings for a POP3 email.

1.0 out of 5 stars WARNING - RUN HARD, RUN FAST, DON'T LOOK BACK - DON'T PURCHASE DELL
Reviewed in the United States ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ on December 24, 2017

WARNING - RUN HARD - RUN FAST - DO NOT TURN BACK - DO NOT PURCHASE DELL. I purchased my first Dell product thinking it should be good. The printer is average. The manual to install is incomprehensible. Worse - the tech support is some off-shore techs who barely speak English. Example: When calling for tech support because I could not understand the operator/tech (#828744), I apologized, and said that I could not understand her. I think she understood me. I made 25-different requests to be transferred to a Supervisor or to the US. The Dell employee - 828744 - thought it would be evidently better for me if she talked over me - and worst of all - raised her voice and slowed down her incomprehensible speech. This felt degrading and humiliating. I have never encountered this. In the end, after the 25-requests by me, 828744 indicated that I could call back when I could understand her (at least that is what I think she said). 828744 definitely said no to a transfer. This could all be user error. I readily accept this possibility. However, I know how I felt in the end: belittled, humiliated, and beyond angry. My counsel, unless you really, really have to - don't buy Dell.

We run a small biz and regularly print labels for CDs and DVDs, plus scan multiple page documents. I have had to outsource label printing because the printer smudges the laser paper. Additionally when I try to scan multiple pages from the document feeder it automatically scans from the glass plate. I called Dell Support, and the tech said my questions were beyond his training and if I wanted support I needed to call their "PAID" support line. This is outrages given the cost of the printer. BEWARE! Dell is out to get more money for support. Unbelievable! By the way, I have only had this printer 6 months.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Printer
Reviewed in the United States ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ on July 30, 2018

I've had this printer in place for a few months now.
This printer is very nice. I love the fact that I can use generic $14.22 cartridges in it and it works perfect! (takes 3 color & 1 black so $56.88 total cost for ink)

The only thing annoying with it is when you pop out the tray, it won't print again until you press the button on the screen to select the correct paper. I wish it could detect if the paper is the same size, assume it's the same thing. Or after 45 seconds, time-out to assume the same setting.
You can turn this feature off, but it's nice to leave on so when I do put something else in there, it will allow me to change.

Otherwise, the scanning is fast, the printing is fast, it's overall a great printer.

5.0 out of 5 stars So glad we bought this!

Why didn't I buy this YEARS ago?!? I can't believe how easy this was to set up (as compared to the 4 previous all-in-one inkjet machines we replaced), and when I click the "print" icon on ANY of our wireless devices, I don't have to wonder what will happen next. Amazing. I have 8 children, which means lots of school work to be printed. I can't tell you how sick I got of having to a) drop everything to order new ink cartridges, or b) drop EVERYTHING and race to the office supply store because ONE cartridge was empty so they ALL stopped working. No matter how many cartridges I stockpiled, one of these scenarios played in constant rotation at our house. Never again. We'll never go back. And if our relatively un-tech savvy family can figure out how to use this machine, I'm willing to bet nearly anyone can make it go.

1.0 out of 5 stars Impressed with the setup, speed, and quality of prints. BUT.... See update

Compared to my Konica Minolta that just died of old age, this machine prints very fast and everyone can print from their own laptops from their bedrooms. Easy setup and color printing is not photo quality but it is very good for a laser printer.
UPDATE: 6/6/20
Apparently Dell stopped producing printers. I really liked this printer but all of the sudden it died after only 2 years. It is a problem that many people is having with this machine that with a fault in the scanner, the whole printer is rendered useless. It almost seems it's a programmed failure. It cannot be fixed. I would say a printer should last at least 5 years. I now have some toner that is going to the same dumpster this thing is going to. I would say I will never buy Dell printers again but Dell will not make them anyway. Very dissapointed with Dell.

Had this printer and used it every once in a while so not overused still had the original toners...after printing something a day earlier, it came up with an error 062-380. Read tons of support responses for this error and they all came down to 1 solution. Dell did not help and the printer is dead because of a bogus ADF scanning error. No fix available and no support from Dell. I have to buy another printer now...
