-Its wireless and does duplex printing.
-It prints fast.
-Copies are very crisp and clean.
-The back opens us so you can do postcards or thicker card stock without bending the cards. (we printed around 100 post cards without a glitch).
Set up to start printing is very easy. However set up for wireless is not intuitively obvious so you'll have to view the user manual on line. Its not difficult in fact vey easy but it would have been nice to have the wireless instructions on a card in the box.
Lot of features for a printer in this price level, I defiantly recommend it.
My only issue has to do with the network setup. It seems like the only way to set it up is via WPS, which is not explained. WPS means you push the WPS button on your wireless router and then have the printer look for it. Once you know that and do it, it connects just fine. But, if you want to have it look for wireless and then enter the router password, it does not seem to have the capability to do that. (It may be possible to do that if you install from the installation disk and type the password in from the computer keyboard, but many computers no longer have DVD drives).
I needed an inexpensive mono laser with ethernet and purchased this for $70. I do not use 2.4GHz (too crowded), so I connected this printer to my Netgear AC750 range extender in 5GHz mode. It pulled an ip within a few seconds, then I logged into the web management to see what was available. I noticed that you can continue printing with the toner cartridge beyond its estimated print life by enabling "Continue Mode". Use the printer controls on the printer itself, or log into the printer web management, and set the replace toner option to continue.
- Airprint works flawlessly
- Wakes up quickly from deep sleep to print jobs
- Fairly compact and lightweight
- Generic inexpensive toners ($15) and drums ($20) are readily available
Mine takes roughly 10 seconds to print a test page from my laptop over wifi while the printer is active. If it's in deep sleep it will add a few seconds. AirPrinting from my iPhone is a similar experience. Overall I am very pleased with this purchase.
