When I tried to register the monitor with Dell, Dell told me that this unit's service tag had already been registered by someone else. Dell told me that the product was used and likely refurbished. Dell would not give me the name of the person who registered it, or the date. But Dell told me that it was not registered by Mega Supply. Mega Supply is selling this as a "new" monitor but it is not.

I did receive an email from Mega Supply claiming that the monitor was new. Dell tells me otherwise. Mega Supply or Amazon need to fix something with Dell. I will not purchase a $500 computer monitor if the manufacturer tells me it is used and will not register it for purposes of the warranty.

Great monitor when it doesn't have any screen anomalies and doesn't quit working. It goes into power save mode at will (even when my power mode setting is set to 'Never'). I basically get to use the monitor about 1/2 my work day and that is about it. I have to completely shut my system down and come back up and keep trying until the monitor actually does anything for me again. Highly annoying. I've even gotten a replacement monitor from Dell and the same things happen. Some combination of my Dell monitor, laptop and docking station is not working properly.

Getting random, very short screen "blackouts" on these monitors. Can happen using any program. The screen just goes black for a second or two, then comes back on. I have no screen saver, but do have monitors set to go to sleep after a specified period of time of no use. Hooked to computer using HDMI cables with an NVidia GEForce260 video card. Card has the latest driver installed. Running with Windows 10. Previous dual monitor setup (using DVI) worked fine with Windows 8.1. Windows tech support advised updating video card driver (already had done this). Dell said "your computer isn't compatible with Windows 10 and that's what's causing the problem with the monitors". I am USING windows 10 and it's working just fine with software and other printers, scanner, etc. so obviously it is compatible with my computer. I tried to get this resolved through Dell and Microsoft, and now, of course, I'm past the 30 day return policy with Amazon and the problem hasn't been resolved. I can't give this monitor a five-star rating because of the blacking out problem (and shame on Dell and Microsoft for just passing the buck around - doesn't anyone know how to take personal responsibility anymore???)

Be warned, besides the 30 day Amazon.com return policy, you will NOT get any warranty on this monitor.

I just finished spending several hours talking to nearly a dozen Dell customer service representatives to get support for my issue on this monitor, and none was able to help me. Why? They kept asking for:

1. A service tag number, and this monitor does NOT come with a Dell service tag.
2. Order number, and they are NOT able to look up Amazon.com orders.

I got bounced to different departments because nobody at Dell knows how to handle this. (On a side note, Dell's customer support itself is abominable.) The very last service rep I spoke to advised me to contact Amazon.com for support.

The warranty provided by Amazon.com for this monitor (which can be viewed on the product page) states: "The limited hardware warranty for monitors purchased independent of a system lasts for the time period indicated on your packing slip, invoice, receipt or other sales documentation." HOWEVER, this simply doesn't exist -- I searched everywhere on the order and invoice for this 'time period', and it's nowhere to be found.

After Dell told me to contact Amazon.com for support, I did just that and contacted Amazon support, who has informed me that after their 30 day return period, customers are to contact the manufacturer (Dell) directly for support on the product.

Pretty unbelievable and a big waste of time.

I hope you find this information useful in making a decision to purchase this monitor. Personally, I would not have purchased the monitor if I knew this in advanced.

I really wanted to like this monitor. I have used Dell monitors for many years now, with my previous setup being a multi-disply setup with U2412's. I love the form and clean designs Dell uses. One of my U2412's died and I decided to upgrade to this model instead of ordering another one of the 2412's.
Out of the box the monitor had a very discernible yellow tint. It is particularly visible when looking at white spaces. The grays were also affected by the yellow tint. This made using this monitor in a multi-display setup almost impossible.
I've updated all display drivers, removed display adjusting programs, reinstalled windows, tried different cables (DP and HDMI), and even connected it to a different computer. Same problem.
I've done color calibrations again and again but the yellow tint is hard to get rid of. I had to pump the color temperature to 90000K (from 65000k) to get the yellow tint out of the whites and grays. But doing this made the colors look washed out, including the blacks, whites, and grays.
I'm quite surprised because of all the reviews saying the colors are great out of box, having been factory calibrated.

Contacted Amazon about the problem and they sent a replacement with no hassle. However the replacement had the same yellow tint. I will be returning this monitor with quite a bit of disappointment.

I received revision 2 of this monitor and mine has the dreaded Displayport issue. I run Windows 7 Pro, Radeon 6850 with the latest drivers and it took a lot of flipping monitor menu settings and reinstalling drivers to finally get the mini-DP cable to work and display at 2560x1440. It looks amazing at the native resolution. But, everytime I reboot I either get the monitor going into hibernate mode or not being recognized and setting my resolution to Generic PnP Monitor at 640x480.

I went on forums and many have a bad cable so I replaced the miniDP cable with a DP to DP cable and still have same issue. I was able to get the native resolution eventually with trial and error by switching between DP v1.1 to v1.2. Except at 1.2 I get an annoying freeze up on my desktop. With HDMI to HDMI cable it will not run the 2560x1440 resolution. So what to do?

I read on forums the solution is to send back the monitor and have them ship you another one. Some folks were doing this dance 2-3 times before they had a working Displayport. I'm not doing that...I don't have time to be shipping monitors back and forth. I'm returning mine and getting the BenQ XL2730Z instead.

I wish I could recommend this monitor, as when it works it is very close to excellent. A few weeks after purchase, naturally outside Amazon's return window, the monitor developed a cyan vertical line. Some Googling around shows that this is not an uncommon failure mode. There is even at least one other reviewer on this Amazon offering that had the same problem.

This sort of defect is not something I'd expect to be commonplace in a supposed premium monitor.

Dell support was marginally helpful, though the replacement process is extremely pedantic and annoying. They take 1-2 business days to "authenticate" your proof of purchase, for example.

Overall, I suggest going with a competitor who cares more about quality control and customer service.

This monitor is good, not great. I'm coming from a dell u2412m and in my opnion, that monitor is better in every way except it's use of PWM.

For starters, quality control seems to have gone down as the monitor I received had several issues. The back lighting is uneven. There is good amount of bleed in certain spots (see my photo). Also, the "ips glow" seems worse than on my current dell u2412m. There was also some grime (not sure how else to describe it) that looked like dirt on my monitor that couldn't be wiped off. There was a dead pixel in the center of the screen and it also seems to flicker and flash on and off about 50% of the time I use it. The main reason I upgraded to the u2415 was because of the lack of PWM which the u2412m does use. This is pretty much the only benefit I see when comparing side by side. Overall I'm disappointed with the quality control and am going to try one more unit. I'll update my review if that one is better.

I bought 4 of the U2415 monitors, and before long, I was experiencing the black flash issue so many others described here. After countless hours of research, I've found that the previous versions of these monitors were defective, and new ones had to be manufactured. The new ones look identical, but the 4 I received were the old version. I've been told you can tell by looking at the last three characters of the serial number. If it ends in A01 or A02, it's just a matter of time before you start experiencing this same problem.

Luckily, Dell worked with me by replacing my defective ones and extending the warranty on the others. The monitors are also stunning when working. These are 5 star monitors if not for the extreme hassle of obtaining working models.

The monitor looks amazing, with thin bezels and good screen quality. However, with both my MacBook pro 13 and 15" laptops connected via DisplayPort, it often goes into a monitor flashing/blinking cycle. Need to return for this reason.
