First of all, the pictures don't do justice to this wonderful piece of machinery. This is a beautiful aluminum laptop that allows for you to have a sleek, understated design along with a build quality that you rarely see in laptops these days. This laptop has chamfered edges (think iPhone 5/5S) that give you the premium look and feel that you've probably never seen in a Dell laptop. It is a bit heavy for a 13 inch laptop but the build quality premium is definitely worth the addition in weight. Initially, I was looking at a 13 inch laptop under 2.5 lbs but decided to go with a metal build instead of a plastic one. However, the touchscreen is probably the biggest detrimental physical aspect of this laptop. It works as well as it should on a comparative tablet but fingerprints collect easily and the glossy screen reflects a fair bit of light. I've been looking at how to remediate this problem and I am looking into a screen protector that might make the screen look worse but help ameliorate the issues mentioned above. Otherwise, the 1080p IPS display is crisp and seems to pop; I don't think I'll be ever streaming video on any other device for a while.
Probably my favorite feature on this laptop is the addition of Windows Hello with the facial recognition camera. It is quick and is much faster than typing a password. But before you go on and say, "What if I bring a picture of you RMS and put it up to the camera?" To that I'll say, go ahead and try, because this camera uses a 3D contour of your face to log you in. In addition, it works in the dark. I haven't tried out any other potential features on the laptop but I'll update the review soon.
Personally, I'm not a person who actually uses the full capability of the i7-6500U, 512 GB SSD, or the 12 GB RAM (except occasionally due to Google Chrome and its inability to be efficient), but everything works smoothly. I have one gripe, however; the laptop, even with its SSD capabilities, takes a "while" to boot up from off or sleep (~4 seconds). The only reason I'm complaining is because my old laptop, which I upgraded its HDD to an SSD last year, still boots up faster from off and sleep. I'm wondering whether the Dell needs Windows 10 updated to the latest software or not, but I'll update this review down the line.
Beautiful laptop but probably not worth getting if over $1000
