i am not computer savy, i bought this computer in order to write papers, surf the web, and skype with friends. It works great for all three!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
also i was hesitant to purchase at first because the quality of the webcam was very important to me but this webcam is crystal clear!!!!!!!!!!
in love with this computer.... 1 suggestion thou, along with your purchase of this netbook be sure to buy the external cd drive its only like 10-15 dollars and you will need it.
even with the external cd drive it is still way cheaper than all the other netbooks.
One reason I wanted this was to present PowerPoint presentations at meetings, but PowerPoint doesn't come with the limited version of Office. No problem. I just downloaded Microsoft PowerPoint Viewer from Microsoft for FREE, and it seems to work fine. I'm looking forward to a couple road trips with this.
UPDATE: AFter 3 days, Windows decided it needed to install some updates....12. That took 90 minutes. Eight hours later, as I tried to shut it down, it wanted to install 10 more updates. And since you can't unplug or shut it down until those have finished, it's getting a little old. I booted it right back up, and shut it down...two updates. Really? Since 5 minutes ago? Tried again. At least it was down to only update. BTW, each time, all updates were successfully downloaded and installed.
It also comes with McAfee and the activation of that software was easy.
The IE software defaults blocked popups so I was initially prevented from downloading Firefox or anything else I tried until the IT staff helped me there as well. Now I have a faster browser that can also help me manage/use my Kindle Cloud Reader.
I'm going to get a wireless mouse as the little touchie pad is too non-ergonomic for my old geezer hands to use easily.
The keyboard is awesome....not one of those teeny little things with flat keys that don't appreciate the touch typist approach. I can actually touch type on this without watching every key stroke. I actually like this keyboard better than the one on my desktop at work. YAY!
I'm hoping to upgrade the memory to 2GB but first I had to figure out if I could make this device DO what I needed it to do.
What was initially a frustrating experience is now a workable experience....but it took 36 hours and the help of the IT staff at work to get there.

UPDATE:2/24/2012, So far, so good! I actually turned off the windows automatic updates, even though it's not recommended because the updates will slow it down. Everything works great, I downloaded Google Chrome and use that as my default browser, DON'T INSTALL INTERNET EXPLORER 9 IT WILL SLOW YOUR NETBOOK DOWN, JUST REMOVE IT, SO MUCH FASTER WITHOUT IT! I almost upgraded to 2G DIMM but you have to pop out the keyboard and remove some screws on the silver metal plate and I decided to not mess with that yet, maybe later, the 1G seems good for now. The Skype worked great and was clear. I can open up multiple google browsers and this netbook has had no problems doing that so far. I had to install the Macaphee and then uninstall it, in order to remove the program; which is weird, it's also a 2 month trial so you mine as well just install Microsoft Security Essentials for free, the Macaphee will just slow it down so I highly recommend doing that. Also make sure that your firewall is on with your network key, through your router and you're good to go. I think it also depends on how well your router is working too.
