I'm reviewing the 24" SE2416H. There are two other monitors on this page that have different specs that I have not tried (the 27 inch one is curved and has speakers, the 22 inch is glossy where the other two are matte). I often dislike the grouping of reviews, but all 3 are SE##16H series monitors...

I'm a computer tech. I've installed somewhere around 100 monitors this year. This is a good monitor that I would suggest to a client, but it has a few pros and cons.

Specifications:
This is a full HD 1920x1680. It is IPS which means it shows more colors and has better viewing angles but may experience ghosting. I've not seen any ghosting but I don't really play games on it.It's 16:9 widescreen (same shape as your modern tv). The screen is matte which means it is not a reflective glossy (the bezel, black plastic around the screen, is glossy so don't get that confused with the actual screen). It has VGA and HDMI for connectivity. It comes with a VGA cable but not a HDMI cable. You can use a DVI to HDMI adapter or a Displayport to HDMI adapter but neither are included. Speakers are not built in.

Pros:
-It has a very nice screen. I have a U2412M, a U2415, and this monitor all plugged into the same computer in front of me. While the U2412 and the U2415 are a little bigger and have more dots, they all three have very similar screens. I much prefer a IPS screen over a standard tn screen even though the IPS cost more. The backlight is more uniform than my U2412M but about equal with the U2415. The U2415 can get brighter but I'm comfortable with both screens at lower than brightest brightness.
-The bezel, back, and stand all look pretty sleek. LG brand IPS monitors tend to be cheaper, but they look cheap. This looks nice!Read more ›

My first thought when I pulled this monitor out of the box was, "Wow, that's huge!" I had a lovely 19" monitor on my desk before this one, and I thought it was nice and big. This makes the old one look tiny!

I use this as a second monitor for my laptop, and setup was an absolute breeze. It took all of five minutes to get it out of the box, placed on my desk, plugged in, and communicating with my desk setup. Very intuitive.

Although I haven't messed a great deal with the various functions available with this monitor, I was able to set the screen colors to "cool," great for the close-up work I have to do as a result of my desk style and size. I love that the controls are on the monitor itself and easy to manage, so I don't have to go into screen settings on the computer for most tasks.

As for the size, this is lovely for being able to pin two windows, one to each side of the monitor. It's almost like having two monitors in one, because it allows me to see most of each window. It does, however, automatically put each window into tablet mode - for me, this is just something to be aware of when contemplating mobile vs web menus. I do not watch many movies and such on my screen, but I do need as much screen space as possible for work. So, this works.

Screen tilts up and down, which is sufficient for me. No side to side rotation.
I will say I would have preferred an HDMI cord to be included rather than a VGA, but both work with my computer, so it's not a huge deal.

All in all, I'm pleased.

I have been in charge of purchasing hardware for new users and often I tend to use some of the newer stuff to test it and see how it works out to decide if I need to keep looking or use something as a new standard. That's what led me to the SE2416H.

I have been purchasing the S2340 series monitors for over a year, we've ordered about 30 as we get new users and needs, S2340M is DVI, S2340L is HDMI, so it's a mix of the two. I think the picture on this panel is absolutely stellar; it's incredibly bright and vibrant, the color is just ridiculous. While searching Newegg to see what's what, they mentioned the SE2416H was a "new version" of this product and I became intrigued by the slightly larger size and standard HDMI for about the same price. I figured why not give it a shot.

We purchased two of these exact monitors and I was excited to pull the 2 S2340Ls off my desk and replace them with these bad boys. So I pulled one out of the box and first put it in place on my test bench first. Putting them side by side, SE2416H & S2340L, I was INCREDIBLY let down by the picture quality. I was first concerned to see the anti-glare screen, as I've never seen colors POP off an anti-glare screen. Past that, the color was just really dull and washed out compared to my S2340L. I tried messing with all the settings I could find and it wouldn't even come close.

The monitor, as a standard 24" monitor is excellent, don't get me wrong. However, being it was compared to the S2340L as an updated version, I was really let down and if this is considered an actual IPS panel, I will be sure to pick my IPS panels more carefully going forward. Once you find a nice IPS display, this particular monitor and other standard monitors will just look like garbage to you.
