So this is a GREAT monitor , pretty bright (WHEN SET to 100% in brightness settings on the monitors built in menu), AMAZING resolution like 8k youtube videos are AMAZING to watch!!! , In a dim or dark room this is an INCREDIBLE OPTION and because its 8K and so unique, MINILED etc... Its just an AMAZINGLY huge upgrade from 4k!!
The only things to keep in mind are, you will need TWO USB C to Displayport, Or Any cables that end in Displayport (full size) to run this monitor at native 8k resolution!!! Not ONE, but TWO!! This monitor now DOES WORK with MAC OS with macbook pro M2!! at native 8k!!! All around EPIC!!

Only has a refresh of 30 on 8k. You can get 60 at 4K but should be running at a higher refresh rate.

It's a real shame that the UP3218K is still the only non-professional option for an 8K display, and one of very few hi-dpi displays for PCs. You probably know if you want an 8K display -- you're someone that appreciates the "retina" quality of your smartphone or laptop and would like to have it on your PC as well. Reading text on this thing is an absolute joy! No more ugly pixelated fonts.

    Downsides:

    1) The UP3218K requires two DisplayPort cables to drive the monitor at full 8K/60hz. This itself isn't a big deal, but unfortunately the system is a tad janky. In this configuration, one cable appears to drive the left side and the other the right. Occasionally I would see artifacts where one side appeared to be updating faster than the other, and the "seam" in the middle was visible.

    2) Build quality. Unfortunately Dell does not seem to be building monitors like they used to. Compared to my old 3007 WFP, this thing is pretty flimsy.

During a particularly horrifying moment, the bezel actually popped off one corner of the display as I was re-boxing it, partially disconnecting an internal cable and causing some visual artifacts after I pulled it back out to check on it. You can imagine how I felt wondering if I had just destroyed a $4000 monitor! Fortunately, Dell support was extremely good (note: I purchased the monitor directly from Dell Business) and I had no trouble returning it after a call to customer service.

Overall, this is a beautiful display and I cannot wait for 8K to become more common. I would really like to see a single cable solution and sturdier build quality however.

As I type this on my Dell 8K display, I feel like I am seeing into the future. That feeling has been consistent from day one. I was one of the first consumer recipients of this monitor after pre-ordering it from Dell in early 2017. I have been almost completely satisfied, including with Dell customer support, during this period.

I use the display on my Linux workstation with Nvidia video cards and drivers. It worked out of the box on the first try, although an Nvidia driver issue requires me to reset the resolution often. The monitor itself has truly stunning picture quality, with razor-sharp text, extremely vivid colors, deep blacks, and high contrast and brightness. I want to use it for hours on end, and that's one of the only problems: you can't. Windows get burned in, with a bright pink afterglow, after only a couple hours of use. I had my monitor replaced under warranty (easy process), and the new panel had the same problem. So this is a design flaw in what is otherwise my platonic ideal monitor.

This is a new set of capabilities that any graphics fan would appreciate. They keep lowering the price as well; trust me, it's worth the money.

At first I was skeptical of the whole "8k" idea, with 4k being relatively new and all. But lo and behold, boy was I wrong! After I bought my first one, I decided to buy three other monitors to mount on my setup. Now I can watch Shrek in 8k in four different parts in my home! Although I wish I could get another one, but I had to buy my eighteenth Ferrari and I was just $100,000 too short and I was barely able to buy my second aqua/land convertible yacht. My maid loves it and so does my dog Rupert. Rate 10/10, but a solid 9/10 for the fact that it isn't Bluetooth compatible with my ramen Bugatti hybrid.

Amazing resolution! As an adult film afficianado I find myself frequently lusting for greater quality in my depraved binge sessions. After turning tricks I found this to be quite affordable! It's worth the positive result from the clinic!

I have owned this monitor for a little over four years--I'm a professional photographer and photo editor, so this product was a dream come true. Outstanding color reproduction and an insane maximum resolution were enough to make me fall in love out of the box.

    Now the problems.

This display is especially finnicky--from odd instances where it will drop from 60hz to 30, or will just fail to come out of sleep mode that even a firmware update didn't fix. Prepare for that.

The most unsettling issue however is the screen suffers from image-burn in very quickly. Within a year of use I was noticing ghosting of user interface elements. And now I'm seeing a growing reddish hue at the lower corners of the display as well as along the entire top edge. For a $4,000 monitor, this is ridiculous.

This display provides a stunning view, but for all the issues, especially the last few mentioned, I cannot possibly recommend that anyone buy this product. There are much better options today for far less.

3.0 out of 5 stars Scren burns in too easily
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on July 8, 2021
This is a good display that seems to be designed for video rather than as a monitor. The 8K is crisp and the colour is very good. I'm using this along with a HP z31x monitor on windows 10, driven by an AMD Radeon WX 9100.
The monitor is glossy, that is to be expected given the extremely high dpi. A Matte finish would reduce the apparent image sharpness. So this is expected.

My big gripe is that the screen burns in very easiy. So it makes a poor computer monitor, where windows will be left open (without moving) for long periods. 20 minutes is sufficient is see a residual ghost image when you move to another desktop. My 4K HP monitor has no problem with ghosting when used for hours on end.

This is disappointing for the price.
