I reached the active Table of Contents by going to Cover and then paging forward. All the titles have links. "Sketches By Boz" also has a link to each chapter, showing both a Roman numeral and the chapter's name. While I have not read everything, the edition appears to be well-formatted for the Kindle. The font is very nice, much nicer than the one in the edition I bought several months ago (which I just removed from my device). I love the wonderful, old illustrations in this collection, which are liberally sprinkled throughout; there are also some photos, such as one of Dickens' home, and some pictures of historical material, such as one at the beginning of The Pickwick Papers showing "A full original set of the 19 of 20 Parts, now highly prized as collectors' items." I was delighted to keep coming across such surprises as I looked through the edition. A photo of Dickens' grave appears at the very end.
For anyone who is a fan of Charles Dickens and wants a fine collection of everything this great author wrote, you can't go wrong with this Delphi Classics edition. In my opinion, it is the one to buy!
My only complaint is one I wish the Kindle Software Geeks would work out : This collection is so huge that an entire Dickens Novel (typically 800-900 pages hardcover) only represents 2-3% of the Download, so the reader has no idea where he is in the progress of the novel without flipping back and forth to the table of contents. It would be better if this collection could revert to the individual books once it is in the Kindle or if the Kindle's owner could label his own "first and last page" and then the Kindle could track the progress between those two points.
Much of what has to be said about Charles Dickens is included in this book already.Written by illustrious commentators of note.Dickens a prolific author, raconteur, and sufferer of hard times himself, experienced life and told it as he saw it.
The books are sometimes long winded, but that was the style of the times, and one must remember that he was responsible for changing and making his own mark on writing.
After reading The complete works of Charles Dickens, I was somewhat exhausted, but enlightened and re-charged. In life, one never stops learning, and this book is one of those learning curves.
Take your time to read it,and it becomes a companion for a long time, to be taken up and shared at your leisure.
Shortly after I bought this, Delphi did an update of this collection, adding some additional content (more attempts at completing "The Mystery of Edwin Drood" by other authors and some other material, corrections, et cetera). I've yet to receive this update from Amazon, though I have automatic update selected and the updated version is the one listed currently by Amazon. The addition of material to the Mark Twain Delphi has been reflected in my copy of that collection, so the update will likely happen here eventually. I love the Delphi collections I've purchased thus far. I've bought quite a few and intend to buy more over time. Recommended.
