I needed a device to measure a small oval doorway where I was going to build two doors for an attached shed. Working on the vertical was trickier than on the flat. The pins kept sliding down. I realized that there was a tiny hex wrench needed to tighten those pins. Unfortunately, the cardboard container for the gauge was torn and the wrench must have fallen out so a trip to the hardware store was needed to buy a replacement. Even after tightening the pins, the measurement was not easy. I would recommend that a level be incorporated into ruler that holds the pins.

I bought this for my DIY projects that I will do with my grandfather because he has some interesting ideas we can try from his home building book we bought a while ago. The accuracy is pretty good and locking feature works well. It also features the extra depth that enables to duplicate more complex objects. I'm totally satisfied with this contour guage. This is such a superior product compared to others I have seen from some friends.
