Does not honor promise of kit lasting for years

The kit was easy to learn to use. It worked well for the first two rackings but then the siphoning part of the kit stopped working completely. I initially contacted the company thru amazon and I was told to watch a you tube video to learn how to put the siphon together. This was useless as I had already used it two times. I then contacted the company thru their website and ask if they could just replace the siphon. I was told that because the siphon initially worked, that they could not replace it. There item description clearly states that this “kit” last for years. If you can’t hold up to your guarantee then you shouldn’t be selling it.

From the first look it looks like you are ready to make some wine

From the fuzzy picture that is miss leading and never update may tell you something about the company. From the first look it looks like you are ready to make some wine. However, after filling your bucket with 6+ gallons of musk, you may have to move it to it's resting place. This is where you will see a 5 cent handle grip slightly larger than the wire and 3 inches long, enough for three fingers. The syphon worked find you are now in the secondary which is a nice glass carboy. Now you will find you have no way to get your gravity reading from the secondary, no wine thief and no tall bottle to put the wine into for the reading. The next problem was the bottle filler. If you are making beer with flat bottles bottoms you are OK,however, if you are filling wine bottles with con caved bottoms you may be in trouble. I could not get the wine to flow into the bottles. I had to pour into bottles with funnel. The corker work great. I think the degasser rod is too short for the secondary and the bung water holder was a laugh. Good luck with your wine making.

Great starter equipment kit

The good:
- The DVD was great for a good overview and understanding of the wine-making process
- Hydrometer is good.
- The glass carboy is the best!
- Bottle brush: pretty good. standard brush, does the job. It'd be cool if there was one that didn't spray chemicals all over me when I took it out of the bottle, though...
- Bottle filler: It drips a little bit more than I want to, and the tip is sensitive, so I splashed a good amount coming out of the bottle. It also doesn't fill the bottle as high as I would like...not sure how to fix that.
- Corks are...not that great, but hey, extra corks! Wine Kits usually come with them anyway.
- Corker: Leaves an indent in the cork, and is a little tough, but I think its supposed to be one of the better ones out there

Not as good:
- Starter packets of sterilizer are not enough for a full batch.
- Airlock and bung aren't that great. It's the plastic 1 chamber floaty kind.
- Primary fermentation bucket isn't that sturdy, I've already dented it and made marks from maneuvering it, and the cap fits only loosely.
- Thermometer is not that great...it's a sticker for your bucket. Had to invest in a floating one.
- Siphoning tubes: Kind of short? Or maybe my counter is just tall.
- Mixing tool -- I've read bad reviews about it heating up when using a drill to operate. It's just a bent up plastic stick, in my opinion, with a little cup to fill with water to "prevent over heating"

Things I invested in due to it's poor quality or absence in the kit:
- Floating thermometer
- Additional cleaner/sanitizer --> Instructions are not very clear on the C-Brite, I would get 1-Step or Star San when you get full-sized.
- Better airlock
- Wine Thief (to get samples and get the temperature/hydrometer readings)
- Stirring tool with 3 legs (the kit comes with a plastic spoon)

Good Kit but NOT for the Novice

This kit does not come with "everything you need." I also had to buy wine yeast, camden tablets, nutrients, and wine bottles. The recipe book included is poor--it does not give detailed instructions so it's very confusing. Also, the lid does not fit securely on the fermenter, allowing oxygen to get in.

Would be much more productive if they had step by step videos to guide you through the process.
