Why four stars and not five?
There were times when a scene was described step by step by step, to the edge of monotony. That's a personal, and trivial, issue. There are some editing mistakes that could be cleaned up. The detailed descriptions of weaponry is a bit excessive for me. Seeing the author's background, I'm sure the listing and listing throughout the story of all the makes and models of every kind of firepower is a reflection of his passion. I can appreciate expert knowledge and enthusiasm, but the multiple appearances of this information was lost on me.
Overall, this is a new kind of story. The played out themes in the genre of urban fantasy are not present here. I can hardly wait for the next installment of this fresh and exciting story!
Probably 3.5 stars for decent writing and not bad story.
The characters are well-developed, with a brightly ending that leaves you with a want for more. Recommended for cold nights, long car trips, or an international flight.
