The author really stepped up to the challenge by elaborating on the details of the scenes and noting particular places and landmarks of Indianapolis, Indiana. The interaction between the characters is more animated adding a sense of validity to the story. Couple that with the high suspense, fasted paced flow of the story leaves you on the edge of your seat.
The character of Zale is much more developed from the beginning and his personality is easily understood and relatable for the reader. Ray and Gordon, although supporting characters, have more personality and provide more relevance in the story. I could personally feel drawn into the mystery and really get into the heads of the characters.
I was riveted by the graphic details, fast paced suspense, and action. Although the characters are colleges they interact as friends while remaining personal. This adds an element of humanity the reader can relate to. While Demon Hunter starts a bit slow and steadily progresses, this story keeps a moderately high tension and deepens the complexity as the story progresses.
This story is well defined with a suspenseful engrossing plot. It is well written and captivating. I loved the action, suspense, and mystery. The intensities within the plot revealed complex definition. I couldn’t put it down. The reader can easily see the growth of the writer’s skill. Keep up the great work Mary Abshire.
I love this world that the author has created. Book 1 had us meet Anna and the Divine Syndicate. This book introduced Zale and the Union of Justice. I really enjoyed getting to learn about this world and what is happening from the view of two different departments (species). I love that this book involved more than 1 species. There are werewolves, vampires and demons. I can't wait to read book 3 and see how Zale & Anna work together to deal with their mutual problems.
Lots of action, quite a bit of questioning the status quo, and one hunk of a werewolf.
The events of Demon Tracker happen at the same time of Demon Hunter, so we get to see both the Divine Syndicate, vampires hunting demons, and the Union of Justice, werewolves policing immoral vampires.
It's a completely fascinating world that Abshire has created in this alternate Indianapolis. I love how detailed and complete it is. She's created a very complex set of characters, including backstory, that shapes how they interact and react to situations.
I think what makes Zale so compelling is his ability to be flexible and adjust his perceptions. We talk about the greater good and setting aside prejudices, but here we find Zale actually doing it! I love his self reflection and desire to be more! Seriously, where can I get one.
I cant' wait to see the chemistry between Anna and Zale when they finally meet!
I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book.
