The author's concept for this book is original and subtly, or perhaps not so subtly, prods the reader to wonder and question at some practices we in modern society have accepted as the norm without questioning the ramifications or consequences to practicing them. Which begs one to wonder if this book is thinly disguised to be an eye-opener for its readers, or is simply the ponderings of a questioning mind....
This book is a good read, with a steady pace of action.
Demon Whispers is the second book in a series of Christian supernatural mysteries and is set in Melbourne, 2018.
Phillip Cook tackles the correlation between the spiritual realm with the scientific world in an complex plot that grips the reader immediately. He explores such topics as bullying and drugs, and their effects on the human mind. He takes on the age-old battle of good vs. evil, Christian vs. atheists, and angels vs. demons in a most original and unique manner. He captures the hearts and opens the minds of his readers with gentle persuasion to flee darkness and choose light. Cook says, "Some drugs control your demons. Others unleash pure evil upon the world."
The story intertwines several memorable characters: The Professor who developed a technology to transport people; Anthony who thinks he's a secret king above the law; Lucas who was transported from prison for a specific purpose; Isabella who was pursued by a woman wanting to kill her; and of course, Ava, the evil French spy who loved power, fame and her country above all else and would do whatever it took to achieve her goal. She was like a soldier on a dangerous mission.
Cook ties all the compelling plots, the 3-D characters, the motives and their outcomes together in an original allegory about addiction and the human brain and God's message and the human heart.
I give Demon Whispers by Phillip cook a 5-star rating, and I recommend it to all who love the supernatural (the spirit world of both demons and angels), mystery, and hope for the Light of the world against the darkness in one's mind and heart.
Review by; Rita Kroon, author of "Letters from the Past" and "Kiss Your Mommy Goodbye"
The plot is complex—are the bad guys and government agents after Isabella because of her late mother's work in a pharmaceutical company or because of grandfather's transport technology or because of something else? There is a stark difference between the thoughts and actions of the atheists and the Christians. They are all connected to the spirit world, but not all spirits are equal—there are both demons and angels. And at the end of life, there are two starkly contrasting places to spend eternity.
The spiritual message is wrapped in a thrilling battle between good and evil.
I received a copy of the book from the author, but I voluntarily wrote the review, which expresses my honest opinion.
