The built in mic picked up my voice clearly during the Face Time feature and controlling the other features such as volume, connect/disconnect, track skip and fast forward/rewind worked without a hitch. Oh yes, they fit in my ears perfectly and snuggly. Why didn't I give it 5 stars? Here's why...
It's not a deal breaker but just preference. I like the cords to going to the ear buds to be one short and one long allowing you to drape it around the back of your neck. It just feels more comfortable to me.
The cables/wires were squished from the way they packaged it. I think they'll reshape in time...I hope.
Other then that, these are some excellent in ear headphones. In my honest opinion the sound reproduction will not disappoint.
Okay one last con...the price if it were cheaper would always be nice.
(The packaging does not list the newest iPod Touch 4G but rest assured it works)
I've had these Denon in-ear headphones for less than a month now and have knocked it's rating from 4 stars to 2 stars. I'm very tempted to give it 1 star but since the sound quality while it was intact was great, 2 stars seems justified. What I may have not mentioned above was that I had purchased two of these, one for my girlfriend and the other for me. Both of ours has fallen apart in less than a month of ownership and very little usage. In a previous members review they had mentioned that the wires were kinked from the horrible packaging. I will confirm that this is true since my wires were also kinked and where it was kinked, the protective layer has split and the wires are exposed. I've found this to have happen also at the base of the earbud also. Just to rule out any thoughts of negligence, I stored these in the case that was included and never do I wind them up tightly. I am very disappointed at this point.
As for the other pair, the earbud split in two at the seam near the Denon logo. I literally saw her remove the earbud from her ear and it just fell in half. No, she's not on steroids either, lol. As of now mine still works but I am very worried about the exposed wiring and may wrap it in black electrical tape. For the cost of these headphones, this should now happen at all.
I just might go back to another brand that I've always used and is tried and true. Buyers beware out there and not to talk crap about Denon, I feel that their quality has gone down the drain.
Now to the headphones... I bought the Denon AH-C560 as a replacement for a pair of Altec-Lansing UHP336. What I liked about the Denon headphones thus far...
a) the frequency range 5 - 24k Hz; not that I'm a major audiophile but when I listened to my Ipod Touch 2G, even w/ the Altec-Lansing pair, I had to use the bass boost equalizer feature. Not so w/ the Denon. The lows are solid without being distorted; the highs are appropriately bright without being tinny. Overall, the sound is rich and full.
b) compatibility with Ipod Touch 2G & IPhone 3G. While I don't use my Iphone as much for music, it's good to have something that I could use for both, especially when I forget to recharge my Ipod Touch.
c) cables appear to be good gauge; the main cable from the controller is of a heavier gauge than the cable from the controller to the earpiece but both appear to be adequate.
d) sits right on my ear & does not easily fall off.
e) does not have too much "stethoscope effect" even when walking or on the move; this was an issue w/ my old Altec-Lansing and probably w/ any in ear headphones, but the stethoscope effect was not at all noticeable with the Denon AH-C560.
I generally use the headset while on a commuter train. To date, I have no major complaints about the product or its functionality. I think it's worth what I paid for it. Thus far, I'm satisfied with my purchase and w/ the product...now only time will tell.
