Initial Expectations From Visco Elastic Memory Foam
When you first receive your visco elastic memory foam topper it will be in a plain brown box just as it is shipped from the plant of the manufacturer to the bedding plants.
Most foam products are compressed and vacuum sealed to save the bedding plants on the shipping costs and we have taken those products intended for the bedding plants and now ship them directly to your door.
While there may be an odor associated with your new memory foam topper, we can assure you that this new foam smell is not toxic or harmful in any way. The new foam odor will dissipate over a period of a few weeks to a few months.

Temperature Sensitive Visco Elastic Memory Foam Contours, Conforms and Cushions
It's firmer when it's cool and softer when it is warm, that is one of the unique properties of visco
Memory foam is made from polyurethane with additional chemicals that add to its viscosity level, thereby increasing the temperature sensitivity of the foam making it unique and different than conventional polyurethane foam. Depending on the chemicals used and its overall composition, it is firmer in cooler temperatures and softer in warmer environments. Higher density visco elastic memory foam reacts to body heat which allows it to mold itself to the contours and shape of a warm body within a few minutes. If the ambient temperature is cooler in the 60 to 70 degree range the visco elastic memory foam will be firmer and provide more support with our products. The example often used to demonstrate its properties is that a hand pressed into the foam and then removed will leave a clear impression in the foam for a few seconds.
- Memory foam was originally developed by NASA to ease the pressure of extreme G-force during space shuttle take off.
- It was subsequently used in medical applications, for example with patients suffering from pressure sores or bed-bound for a long period.
- Memory foam was initially too expensive for general use, but in recent years it has become more affordable to produce and is now widely available.

Memory foam's ability to reduce pressure points is one of the reasons so many people are using it to get the best night's sleep. Now you can enjoy the benefits of memory foam without having to buy a new mattress by adding this memory foam mattress topper to your existing spring, latex or even memory foam mattress. This topper will add comfort and increase the quality of sleep from your mattress immediately. Three inches of four pound density memory foam used in this topper is specifically designed to enhance the feel of your current mattress and also provides additional support in areas where your mattress may be dipping or sagging. The foam is also specially formulated to contour to your body at any temperature and will give you the extra comfort you need to get the best night's sleep possible from your current mattress. Our toppers have also earned the PURGreen certification, which means they are manufactured, fabricated and packaged in the U.S.A. meeting all EPA and CSPC standards being safe and free from harmful chemicals. PURGreen uses independent laboratory results to qualify products and ensure they are manufactured without the use of ozone-depleting substances such as Chlorofluorocarbons, Polybrominated Biphenyl Ether substances, Harmful Metals, Formaldehyde, Prohibited Phthalates or any other unsafe materials. PURGreen also implements baseline requirements such as conserving water, energy and other natural resources in the manufacturing processes established through internationally accepted ISO standards and procedures. There may be a new foam smell associated with your new topper; however, this odor is not toxic or harmful passing all PURGreen, EPA and CSPC standards. MADE IN THE USA.
Your memory foam mattress topper has been compressed and vacuum sealed for shipping purposes. Please carefully unpack the memory foam from the sealed packaging and lay completely flat allowing your topper to fully decompress for up to 96 hours at 72 degrees in cold weather. In warm weather the topper will expand rapidly; however, it will need time to “cool” down to an ambient room temperature of 72 degrees. Your memory foam topper is temperature sensitive and this is why it needs to reach an ambient temperature of approximately 72 degrees. U.S. made foam does not contain any toxic ingredients like formaldehyde or PBDE, polybrominateddiphenylether, but it can have new foam smell that lasts for a couple of days to a couple of weeks, based on the time of year the foam is produced. The foam smell does not necessarily trigger allergies; however, it can be bothersome to some people who have a sensitivity to smell. If the smell bothers you, try airing out the room and washing the sheets after a few nights of sleep on the new mattress.

I am deeply disappointed in this mattress topper. I research my purchases carefully, and rely on reviews that people give products to help me determine what to buy. It's one of the best ways to minimize buying junk when you are making an online purchase. Despite the fact that I read many of the reviews, I still wound up with a junk pad. It was very cushy and comfortable on the bed, so I have no complaints about that. However, after sleeping on it nightly for a little more than 3 months, the pad started developing deep cracks. I contacted the manufacturer, but they were *extremely* slow in responding [took them over a week to email me]. I contacted amazon about the problem, and they were very good about dealing with it, and gave me a return shipping tag to return it to them. They suggested that once my account is credited, I could then purchase another topper. However, after removing the topper from my bed, the cracks enlarged and went right through the pad. This convinced me there was no way I would buy another one of these toppers made by this company. In fact, it made me wonder about buying another topper at all, as many reviewers said they had this issue, even with other manufacturers. I have a 2" pad that I have had for several years that has no issues, so I think I will just make do. If you are looking for a mattress topper, I would suggest buying something that has a rock-solid warranty.
Densities of Toppers
2 lb/ft density - For side sleepers, you'd want firmer toppers so lower densities are better
3-4 lb/ft density - For back sleepers, you'd want softer toppers so you can sink. If you want a softer sleep, a 3 pound density is fine. If you want a fitful slumber of mutant marshmallows enveloping you, go for the 4 pound.
Thickness of Toppers
2" - It all depends on weight. If you're a tiny Asian woman or one of those tall and really skinny guys who weigh like 130-ish pounds, 2 inches is fine.
3" - If you're like a college student who weighs around 160-ish, this is for you.
4" - For people who are muscular or particularly enjoy cake.
Amazon won't let people post links but there's a site called SleepLikeTheDead that shows really good brand comparisons. Do a bit of Googling and you'll find it.
Even though the topper seems to be like an inch short of the mattress you're putting it on, it really doesn't make a difference. I thought it would look obvious that the topper was shorter than the mattress but it wasn't.
Also, you have to let it expand before you use it or else it won't be able to expand to its maximum size. Some do weeks, others do a couple of days, but I let mine expand for like 5 hours and I measured it with a ruler and it got to its 3" thickness so I decided it was ready.
The last site shows great reviews of the topper. I'm a a back sleeper so I had to get a moderately thick topper and I happen to prefer my sleeps to be analogous to being devoured by pillows so I got a 4 pound density. This specific topper is the HIGHEST rated 3", 4lb/ft density mattress so this seemed like a perfect fit.
I was still a bit nervous on my choice as $150 is a big amount for a student but my first night on it removed all doubts. It's been several weeks now and I've noticed no smell except for the stench of my own laziness as I refuse to get up for classes. It is great. You will feel like you're floating on a pool, except instead of water, there's memory foam.
I highly recommend it if you're a back sleeper of moderate weight.
Seeing that there are people who still comment on this, I figure it's time to give an update. It's December 2015 and this topper has outlasted not only two girlfriend but also the usefulness of my college degree. Most passerby's in my room comment of how soft and luxurious my mattress is.
Joke's on the them though because my mattress is $100 from Ikea. Kinda like baking a really crappy cake but having really good frosting.
The only thing that you should know is that it traps body heat more than a normal mattress. This means during the summer, I could get by without a blanket because it'd get too hot for me. My girlfriend thinks of this as a positive and loves it in all seasons.
I moved to a new apartment in July and just folded the topper in half. Don't do this because now it has a tear half a foot long on each side. The instructions do say to roll instead of fold so this is purely my fault. Otherwise, this topper has more job security than I do.
