Well another great book from the late and great David McGowan,I would call the book a book of quotes from different sources like Amnesty International and like groups and news sources about Americas diabolical doings throughout the world that are not well publicized.The book covers the Presidents and Politicians as well as the Military and Police, food manufacturers and our rights as U.S. Citizens and the unborn.Their are many disturbing stories about war,abortions and control of our minds through electronic sources like HAARP which can also control the weather, it makes you wonder who our Politicians are, the big question for me is who will replace the author now that he's past.

Scary preview of our growing police state

This is a strong first book by McGowan. It's not a standard novel. It's similar to some of his early newsletters. It gives facts and quotations from mainstream sources mixed in with his own commentary. It covers both our growing police state as well as our ever expanding military presence overseas. What particularly concerns me is this book was released in 2000, before the events of 9/11. The militarization of our police and erosion of our civil liberties was happening before the Patriot Act, NDAA, the TSA, etc. Given what's happening now, I wonder if they've been planning for something all along.

Scary - But A Must Read & Excellent Reference Resource

I grew up believing that my country's government was good and could be trusted to do what was right, and it hurts to learn that that is no longer so (if it ever was). I trusted Ted Koppel and Peter Jennings and Mike Wallace and Hugh Downs and others. Now I learn on page 13 that the CIA owns "everyone of any significance in the major media."

I learn that the country I have been and want to be proud of is a rogue state that has one of the world's worst records on human rights. I learn about the many, many steps our executive, legislative, and judicial branches have taken to chip away at our civil rights and our civil liberties. I learn that my country is well on the way to becoming a police state.

I don't want to believe all the terrible things McGowan tells about my country, but he has carefully documented what he says, so that denial is not rationally possible. I wish this book were a compendium of vicious lies, but unfortunately it is a compendium of appalling truths. Ignorance of these awful facts may be bliss to some, but I, for one, don't care for the idea of living in a fool's paradise.

Every patriotic American should read this book. Maybe, just maybe, someone smarter than I will figure out a way to get this country back on the right track. Yes, it is "my country, right or wrong," but I happen to know the rest of that quote: "when right to keep it right, when wrong to make it right."

If you, too, are a patriotic American, reading this book will make you feel very angry and frustrated at some of the things our country has done and is still doing. But if you (singular and plural) can channel that anger into a search for a way to set our country right, and if some one or more of us succeed -- then it will be more than worth the pain we suffer.

This book book was written in 2000 but it is just as current today. Perhaps even more so since time proved Dave McGowen to be correct then as well as what you find going on today.

I was a david mcgowan fan after finding his fantastic book on laurel canyon. After reading that book I went to his web site and found his posts on the Boston bombing . At first I did not buy into his "its a no blood scam" theory but the more I looked into it the more it became obvious amputee crisis actors and a bomb that did not have the power to knock over plastic cups or put holes in plastic bunting was at the heart of this obvious scam. Dave died (of a fast acting cancer) and everything on his web site died with him. No doubt those his research focused on cheered his death but others followed up on his research and 2 of his other books became available again, other people have published books on Boston and many sites are now saying what was in his posts.

This is now his only book that is still out of print. It is however still available and I suggest you find a copy. McGowan was the best researcher out there, his books stand the test of time!!! R.I.P. Dave... anyone who finds your books will never forget you. .
