I received the book Descended from Dragons (ARC copy) from Tricia Owens for an honest review. I want to thank Ms Owens for sending me this book. I throughly enjoyed reading every word in it.
The location is Las Vagas, NV. Sin City, where everything is normal, if you stay there long enough. Anne Moody runs a pawn shop. But not just any pawn shop. A cursed pawn shop. Every day the cursed cameos were sure to tell Anne that her doom was on the horizon. The demon in her refrigerator came and went so she never knew what would happen when she opened the door. The spooky painting on the wall was enough to give anyone nightmares. And she had enough of those to last a lifetime. And her Uncle vanished 3 years ago without a trace. Considering everything, she wasn't too surprised to learn that a gargoyle statue she just bought wasn’t all that it seemed.
If you love dragons, demons, shape shifters, witches and warlocks, then this is the book for you. Ms Owens gives wonderful descriptions of her characters, and I could see the beautiful scales of Lucky glowing in my mind. This is book 1 of 3. I’ve very anxious to read the next book in the series to see if we learn more about the odd neighborhood Anne lives in, her new found love interest, and the best friend Molly who loves to “monkey” around! 5 stars is my vote. Pick up this great book today!
The main character is a dragon, or at least descended from dragons, and she has a dragon as her familiar. She runs a pawn shop in a haunted building - not an easy place to live, but never dull. The problem is that when she lets the dragon really get out - like whenever she has to call on its strength for more than a little bit - it brings out the destructive side in her, and she has to really work to reel it back in.
She gets involved in some heavy dark magic while trying to save a gargoyle, and her friends and neighbors are pulled into the caper. It's well done and a good bit of fun. Still a light read, but good enough to be worth the time.
