This book will challenge you to obey God even when you can't figure out what God is doing, just follow where He leads and He will do great and mighty things that we know not!
This book is not for "soft-hearted" followers of Jesus. If you are one of those be ready to be grabbed and moved to action. If you're of the "hard-hearted" varity, it's most likely OK for you to read this book (though I doubt you will).
Seriously, I was convicted and challenged, and God put me to the test a couple of times even before I finished the book. I hope I passed the test. Just remember, if you read this book, and I DO ENCOURAGE you to read it, just be sure you're ready to pray that dangerous prayer, "OK Lord, me too."
Thanks brother Steve for responding in obedience and sharing your journey, the good, the bad, and the ugly with us. Praying that we all answer the call to be "present" for those the Lord places before us.
One question, "Are you flying or driving now in your journeys?" ;o)
Pastor Steve Wright shares his journey from a comfortable "normal" Christian life in a rural setting to a life of compassion in an inner city ministry that is only found in an obedient intimate life with Jesus. Often candid about his misgivings and faults, Pastor Wright leads us through the life changing experiences that God used to transform his outlook on ministry and his impact on the culture around him.
At the same time his personal calling challenges us to examine our lives and dare to begin our own journeys toward compassion. As the title implies, this road less travelled is not a climb to higher levels but rather a descent into the humility and life of service that ministers to all souls wherever we find them.
The Descent to Compassion uses a unique journey to expose our united mission in fulfilling a universal purpose: to love God with all our hearts, with all our souls, with all our minds by simply and truly loving those around us.
This is a book that you have to read, and then share with all your friends.
