Spells. Characters that will intrigue you,  and a character that you will love to hate, the indescribablycreepy Armand, populate this disturbing read which shimmers. This story is likeits primarily desert setting, wild, primitive, magical and full of mystery anddanger. .. This story is likely to stimulate your owndreams, visions and awareness of the magical and mystical that often coincidewith the more mundane elements of life. If you love spiritual adventures wheredark forces battle light, stories in primitive wild settings where thelandscapes are effectually their own character, and the scent of "cherrywood and sage oil with the essence of pine" then you will love this book.

Leigh Podgorski's DESERT CHIMERA is an exciting read. Manyplaces in the book were at such a tempo I couldn't put it down or turn thepages fast enough. A wonderfully constructed mix of mystery, intrigue, andaction, spiced with just the right touch of the supernatural. You never knowwhat will happen next. Have fun! Read the book.
 A Gripping Read!, February 6, 2013

Leigh Podgorski's DESERT CHIMERA,  is a chilling epic battle both psychological and physicalthat takes place in the heart of Death Valley between Luke Stone and hisnemesis, the black magician Armand Jacobi.
Podgorski develops her tale step by step and twist by twist.
As the novel drives to its conclusion, we wonder who willwin in this epic battle of wills and good versus evil.

From the Author

Desert Chimera was adapted from my play Desert Wolf  presented at the Interact Theatre Company in North Hollywood, California directed by Dave Florek and starring Dave Florek as Luke Stone and Greg White as Armand Jacobi  with Ivonne Coll as Consuelo, Tina Carlisi as Mack, Bette Rae as Eppie, and Jeris Pondexter as Leo. Before we opened, Ivonne was replaced with Denise Blasor because of scheduling conflicts. There is nothing quite like seeing your characters spring to life upon a stage, and this cast was nothing short of amazing. The Interact Theatre Company is one of the many small theatre companies that bloom in New York and in the Los Angeles environs and all across the country. No one gets paid. Everyone puts in long hours for the love of the work. Without these actors and the director (to whom, full disclosure, I am also married) and that work, this book would not have been possible.
For me, Desert Chimera, more than anything else,
is an exploration of relationships: the relationship between Luke and Armand, between Luke and Consuelo, between good and evil, between physical and metaphysical, normal and paranormal.
I was explaining what it was like for me when I am writing to a dear friend. I told him, "I can create the world I want to create; make the characters do whatever I want them to do (for the most part); have things come out exactly the way I want them to come out. When I enter that world, I am gone. It is the best high I could possibly have."
He looked at me and replied, "You're a marathon runner."
That's about the best definition I've heard.
Just like marathon runners, I believe writers enter the "zone." And when we do-- there is nothing on earth like it.
