How we got our start? In my 13 year old entrepreneur mind, anything and everything was a business opportunity. When someone mentioned a youth scholarship program that taught beekeeping, I was on board. Much to my surprise, I immediately fell in love with beekeeping, and the rest is history.
What makes our product unique? We are one of the few companies that still produce, package, and sell our own products! From the beehive, to the bottle, to each customer, we do it all. We make sure our bees are properly and humanely cared for, and that each jar sold is the highest possible quality.
Why we love what we do?Bees are absolutely fascinating. Not only is every day a glimpse into their unique and tireless world, but we also get to produce one of the most natural & wholesome foods on the planet. And because we do it all from the bee to the bottle, and leave our honey raw, you can taste the difference!
From the manufacturer
From that first beehive in 2002, Blake’s passion for bees has grown to several thousand hives, and Desert Creek as it exists today.
Desert Creek Honey
Where It All Began
Since childhood, owner Blake Shook has been passionate about two things -- the outdoors and starting his own business.
Little did he know that his first hive would turn into something so much bigger. Desert Creek began in 2002 when 13-year-old Blake won a free beehive through a scholarship program that set him up with everything he needed to get started and shortly thereafter, he fell in love.
Blake’s two passions met at a crossroads with Desert Creek Honey.
Desert Creek offers honey as fresh as can bee! Our honey and other products come in multiple sizes to suit every need, large or small. We have a traditional honey bear size to drizzle into tea or coffee, all the way up to a gallon of honey perfect for brewing mead at home. Our fresh honey is available at any size for any and all sweetening needs. Find the honey that suits your needs. We also offer fresh beeswax and pollen granules. All of our products are held to the same high standards of quality to ensure that we are putting our very best into everything we do.
We are proud of our honey
Desert Creek Honey remains unprocessed from hive to bottle to maintains all of the enzymes, amino acids, pollens, vitamins, and trace minerals naturally found in raw honey. Rich in flavor and containing many benefits, our honey is produced by our own bees in clean Texas fields. The honey is then gently and responsibly harvested at our own rural facility without cooking, pasteurizing, filtering, or adding to the natural goodness found in raw honey. We never use force filtering, which requires excessive heat and removes the benefits of the natural pollen honey contains.
Sweet, As Nature Intended
Humans have consumed honey as far back as ancient Egypt, and even further up to some 5,500 years ago. Honey has been used medicinally by tribes around the world as far back as 2000 B.C. Natural raw honey is full of antioxidants, micro-nutrients, amino acids, and minerals. When it comes to honey, quality matters the most.
Try using honey as a natural sugar alternative in your favorite recipes
The typical honey bear you might pick up at the supermarket is far from the stuff our ancestors had access to. Most modern honey has been processed by high-heat and pasteurized, a process that depletes and comprises most of the naturally-occurring nutrients that make honey so good. Desert creek honey remains unpasteurized to maintain all of its wild qualities. Desert Creek honey is a far closer resemblance to that ancient nectar enjoyed by our ancestors when compared to the common honey bear. We even offer honey still in the honeycomb, to keep the experience as close to nature as possible.

August 2018 update: Some dishonesty is happening, something has changed in the honey, this is my 6th bottle. The consistency is not as thick and is actually quite watery, I mix this with water and back then it use to take a while to fully dissolve, this current bottle with 50% honey and 50% water dissolves in less than a min. And the taste has also changed, I suspect they have diluted or mixed it with a cheaper sugar syrup.
This honey looks so much darker than any honey I've seen in supermarket.
When I opened the gallon container and poured it into the fermentation vessel I spilled some down the side and on my hand. Instinctively I licked it off without thinking about my dislike for it. Boom!!! It was like nothing I've ever tasted before. This honey is actually delicious! I mean absolutely delicious! I stopped pouring to save some and added some local honey to get to 15 lbs just to have and savor this treasure. I have disliked honey for all my 45 years of life. Not anymore. What kind of magical elixir is this stuff? What flowers are they visiting? Did your bees come from the apiary at Hogwarts? I'm really in a state of disbelief. Give those bees a little pat on the back for me.
The honey is a flavorful, but pretty standard wildflower variety. What sets this apart from the competition is that it is not treated other than for particulates, and without the "OMG ORGANIC" price tag. I found no sediment, no wax, no parts. The honey carried through fermentation and has produced what so far tastes like a fantastic mead. Color, body, and consistency were on par with anything I've had either locally(upstate NY) or elsewhere. Purchasing a second gallon and eyeing the 5 gallon bucket.
For what you get, this is far cheaper than even local beekeepers. Good honey, delivered, for around 5 bucks a pound, and wildflower, not clover.
Not just 'will' buy again; have. Purchase with confidence.
They were the only ones who sold their honey locally by the gallon and since I don't use cane or processed sugars of any sort, I use quite a lot of honey in my recipes instead.
That said, love your Honey. I love the raw unfiltered honey for its healing and health properties and enjoy the bite it has....Will be using you again in the future and really appreciate the promptness of getting my order to me, really surprised me....Great job y'all
