This was the tie of the Gloster Gladiator and the Fiat CR.42, both biplanes that look like they belong in World War I rather than World War II. To be sure, there were a few Hurricanes on the British side but most of them had been sent to Greece to Churchills idea of the soft underbelly of Europe. And the Italians upgraded their fleet towards the end of this time.
The book as is common with this publisher has a couple of hundred photographs taken during the battle. Likewise it has several high quality color drawings of the planes used by the Italians. It is quite interesting to see what was going on long before the United States entered the war.
