Also, make sure you get the right blade for your mixer. There is a website page that lists the KitchenAid mixers and which blades correspond to each. I will link it at the end (sadly Amazon removed link) but I thought it would be a snap to just list them here as well. I hope this helps!
You are supposed to match the first 3-4 digits of the model with the blade (basically, you don't need the last part of the model number that includes the color of your mixer). On my KitchenAid mixer, the model number was on the base. I can't say for sure if every model has the number there. The BeaterBlade model number is listed here under Product Details. Mine was the KA-TH.Read more ›
Once again, there are two 5-quart beaters available. One is for tilt-head models and the other is for lift-bowl models. Be certain you are buying the correct version.
Okay, so that self-disclosure said, I read about these blades before they ever came out in one of my gourmet magazines. I found it interesting that Kitchenaid wasn't the one to come up with it and get the patent. It's brilliant! But only if it really works...
I love the Kitchenaid mixers and think they are among the best out there. They have just been improved, but, oddly not by Kitchenaid!
This speeds up your mixing time by half! The only thing I didn't like about my God-of-all-mixers was having to stop, lower the bowl, stir, and continue in order to get a perfectly mixed food product. Now, I put this blade in (which, unlike my other blade that came with my mixer, is also dishwasher safe mind you...another plus for hygeine and time management!) and add my ingredients and now I just walk away and work on the rest of my recipe.
And, I mean to tell you, it reaches every last crumb! This is some serious mixing!
I have used it on the hardest to stir ingredients...from bread dough to sugar cookie dough, to pasta mixtures to foccacia dough...this blade has seen some mixing!
Because you need a different blade for each model of beater, be sure to look at your serial number and matching up the info of what your size is etc on the Kitchenaid site before ordering if you need to. I wonder if this is what made some other blades snap--getting the wrong size? I say this because we cook all 3 meals and 2 snacks we eat each day and we use this thing constantly and it's bullet proof material :-) and we beat it up without any issues. but there are so many different blades you have to be careful to get the right one for your model.Read more ›
In all fairness, I used this product A LOT. I have a home baking business and my beater blade got a lot of use. Much more than a normal person that does not bake for a living. I got my money's worth and then some. So I have to buy another one, so what!
It works great at scraping the bowl. I NEVER have to turn off the mixer to scrape. Now, you cannot use this for extremely heavy doughs. It works great with cake mixes, frosting's, fillings, cookie etc.
I did also purchase the SIDE SWIPE blade because the part that attaches to the beater is metal. But the fins are EXTREMELY hard to clean off. I mean to get all of your batter off between the blades was difficult. Also the fins are breaking off.
In Conclusion, I WILL be buying another Beater Blade, because of the ease of cleaning off my batter. It is much more user friendly than the Side Swipe

Good mixer attachment .It works well and has been trouble freePublished 2 hours ago by Jake the snake
If you own a kitchenaid, you need this. My only complaint would be that some mix gets stuck on the blades, along the flexible part, so you do need to stop to scrape them off. Read morePublished 4 days ago by Lyndsey Howell
Plastic, so doesn’t seem as sturdy as Kitchen Aid accessories. Used for banana bread, no problems. I won’t try it on thick batter, might break.Published 5 days ago by John D. Burke
This is plastic, not ceramic like the original Kitchenaid accessories. It still does a good job of scraping the sides, although you have to help it out if the dough is too high on... Read morePublished 9 days ago by Lana!
The attachment fits well, however it seems to scrape the bowl a little hard.Published 9 days ago by Marnie D. Davis
Did not work for a 4.5 mixer. The fit was to tight and shook the whole mixer. Made of plastic. Bends very easily.Published 10 days ago by kathy
