From the Author
Personally, I believe in fresh starts and in chasing the thing that drives you. Like Samantha, I gave up my career in fashion for something else. Unlike Samantha, I haven't stumbled over any dead bodies or been suspected of murder....

Samantha is having such a bad day, especially when it was supposed to be such a wonderful day — the first day of her Starting Over Plan. When she arrived at Tradava to start her new job as Trend Specialist, instead of reporting to Patrick (fashion icon, her new boss, and hopefully her future mentor), Samantha and Nick Taylor find Patrick's body in Tradava's elevator.
Then, it gets worse. The body has disappeared by the time the police arrive, and they don't believe she saw anything. And — Patrick told no one else that he had hired Samantha to be Tradava's new Trend Specialist. And then .... (I don't want to reveal any spoilers, so I'd better stop there.)
Author Diane Vallere has made Designer Dirty Laundry LOL funny with her humorous dialogue and narrative. Samantha is such a fun, likable protagonist. Another character, Eddie, turns out to be Samantha's high school classmate. I really like their backstory, and how it was kismet for Samantha that they reconnected. The mystery, involving a contest for designers with a $100,000 prize, is very good, and kept me guessing. Can you figure it out before Samantha does?
I recommend Designer Dirty Laundry to all cozy mystery fans, especially those who like madcap caper cozies. If you're a fan of Gretchen Archer's Davis Way Crime Caper series or Diane Vallere's other series (Madison Night Mad for Mod Mysteries, Polyester Monroe Material Witness Mysteries, and Margo Tamblyn Costume Shop Mysteries), I think you will particularly enjoy reading about Samantha Kidd in Designer Dirty Laundry.
I absolutely love Designer Dirty Laundry, which has earned my highest rating of Five Stars!

Judging from this disclosure you can see why the escapades of a shoe buyer-turned-trend specialist at a fashion house would not necessarily be my first choice of book to cozy up to on a quiet afternoon.
I couldn't have been more wrong. Samantha Kidd could not be more entertaining and, surprisingly, relatable.
Deciding to leave her job in New York and start over in her old hometown of Ribbon, PA (buying her childhood home when her parents decide to retire in California), Samantha is dropped headfirst into a mystery when her first day at a new job begins with her discovering the body of her employer, Patrick, dead in the elevator. Surprisingly, no one else at Tradava knew Samantha had been hired, and the quick disappearance of the body leaves upper management wondering just what her angle is for getting a foot in the door.
Struggling to not only find a killer no one else believes exists, but pay the bills now that her job has fallen through, Samantha turns to an old friend from high school, Eddie, to help her prove that she did not imagine things, but that something is seriously afoot in the local fashion scene.
Bring in one very understanding house cat, a frustrated homicide detective, a serious love of ice cream and a chance for a flirtation with handsome shoe designer Nick Taylor to turn into something more serious, and you have the perfect mystery to entrance even the most un-fashionista amongst us.
Trust me, because I seriously am one of them.
