Honestly, I think that I kinda envy the girl. If the Special Poop Hole are two absolutely gorgeous alpha males then sign me up. Reaper the passionate former alpha of the Arcana pack didn't return to his granny’s fairytale castle expecting to find his possible future. but when fate throws him a treat wearing a nice red cloak, how can he not take a bite. Ivy and Reaper are drawn to one another immediately and he could be the answer to her mate dilemma. But as Poop Holes go … it only gets deeper and as she comes out the other side there is the pack alpha Lukas.
So, I like a good retelling of a classic fairytale. Who doesn't know the story of Little Red Riding Hood and wondered what the heck was she really doing in those woods. Well, this Red may have a little of the little cinder girl mixed in because she has two princes (of sorts) who happen to be worthy in their own right. The characters fit the tale very well because have Red the not so classic damsel but as the reader you have to decide which alpha is the real Big Bad Wolf.
Desiring Red had a lot of promise. I don’t mind love triangles as long as they’re well done and this one seemed like it might be. Again it’s a serial and ended in a MAJOR CLIFFHANGER so there wasn’t much time to really get into the characters or the story itself. I did feel like I jumped into the middle of something though and it took me a bit of time to unscramble the information that was being fed to me. For example, in Kristin Miller’s paranormal world, the Alpha rules under the Omega. That wasn’t clear in the beginning so I was a bit confused as to why so much deference was paid to grandmother Omega.
I can’t really give my opinions on Ivy and Reaper because of the length. I can say that as far as first impressions go, Ivy seemed like the one who could bring the pack (and Reaper) out of their misogynistic and archaic life style where women were seen and treated as little more than possessions to be used and tossed aside at a man’s leisure. I had a big problem with the implication that Reaper and Lukas only wanted Ivy because she looked a certain way and not because of who she was. It made me think WAY less of them than I should because at the end of this, one (Or both) might end up being Ivy’s choice.
I did appreciate that Desiring Red ‘s alternating POVs between Ivy and Reaper pretty much got straight to the point of the matter. No whining or girlish fantasies from Ivy that would have turned my stomach. She may have wanted more but she wasn’t delusional or childish. Reaper on the other hand had a pretty one track mind: Sex. With Ivy. I’m hoping he’s more evolved than that in the other two parts of the story though.
Does this mean I want to continue reading this serial? Sort of. I mean, I don’t care for serials at all but I’m not going to lie, Desiring Red was set up in a way that was meant to intrigue readers and get them curious as to what will happen next. So, in that respect, mission accomplished. I just wish that there was more “meat” to the plot and that it wasn’t a serial. This could have had the potential to be a really great novella or even a full length novel.
Desiring Red doesn’t skimp on the sex though. At just under 50 pages it is hotter than hot and that’s great, but again, the believability due to the time frame is a little ludicrous. Reaper barely meets Ivy before he’s getting handsy with her in the garden. I could let it pass because it’s a paranormal romance but still, it was a little hard to fathom.
Final Verdict: I’m on the fence about this one. On the one hand, I’m curious to see what happens next but on the other, what if it’s not all it’s cracked up to be. I will say that if you don’t mind serials or love triangles then do pick this one up because Miller does a good job of tantalizing and teasing readers.

Although, it doesn't take long before the pressure and uncertainty get the best of her and she find herself in the garden mulling over her choices and wondering what will happen now once she goes back into the castle. What she didn't expect was running into a handsome stranger who bring out the passion and desire that she hasn't felt for anyone before.
Reaper has always hidden in the shadows, he left the Omega to find the person responsible for his parents death and will not stop until they have been held to justice to their crime and pain that they caused him. He doesn't expect to see the red beauty in the garden or feel the desire to make her his but he knows that if he did that he would be breaking the law that the pack hold as law.
The lust and desire that Ivy and Reaper feel for each other, makes the results of the ceremony even more pressing. Though as time is ticking on Ivy's pull toward Reaper may not be her destiny and if that is the case Reaper isn't going to be happy.
Desiring Red is unlike any book I have read before, but I loved it's unique take on werewolves and fate. The different elements and story is thrilling and exciting to read. With its dangerously handsome men, powerful women and sexual tension it is an all around great book and I can't wait to read the second one.
