Desitin Daily Defense
What causes diaper rash?
Primarily, prolonged and increased exposure to wetness against the skin. Other factors: the closed environment created by the diaper, chafing from friction/rubbing against diapers or skin folds, and skin’s prolonged contact with urine and/or feces.
What are the signs and symptoms of diaper rash?
Some or all of the following: pinkness/redness wherever the diaper touches, dry or fluid-filled raised bumps, flaking, dryness or peeling/scaling of the skin, raised areas (or swelling), and chafing. Affected areas may be warm to the touch.
How can I prevent diaper rash?
Keep baby’s skin clean and dry, let diaper area dry before reapplying diaper, and protect baby’s skin with a diaper rash treatment. Try DESITIN Daily Defense: It protects against diaper rash from the first use and works at the first hint of rash.
How does Zinc Oxide treat diaper rash?
Zinc Oxide forms a protective barrier between the skin and the diaper to reduce friction, block wetness from the skin, protect against the enzymes found in feces, and soothe irritated skin, allowing it to heal naturally.
How can I treat diaper rash?
Keep the area clean and dry. Once you have finished cleaning your baby’s bottom, pat it dry (no rubbing), and try applying a thick layer of DESITIN Maximum Strength. Just 1 application provides long-lasting overnight protection.
Which DESITIN Diaper Rash Treatment Do I Need?
Check baby’s diaper at least every 2 hours and change immediately if urine or feces is present. At every change, clean with mild wipes or warm water, let air dry, and apply DESITIN Daily Defense before re-diapering. DESITIN Daily Defense is your everyday partner in protecting against diaper rash.
Be extra gentle when cleaning red, irritated skin (patting, not wiping). Leave existing diaper cream in place, and add a thick layer of DESITIN Maximum Strength to affected areas. DESITIN Maximum Strength helps heal and soothe diaper rash discomfort!

Over a year ago, I pretty much ruined my skin. It became extremely rough, dry, thickened, irritated, etc from accidentally using a product with an exfoliant too often.
I’ve tried so many things to repair my skin, but nothing has worked. I’m always being told to just use a cream and layer an ointment over it. This never worked for me. Even the thickest ointments seem to dry out and spread everywhere but the spot I need it on.
A little over a week ago, I decided to try using this product as my occlusive rather than an ointment, and the results have been amazing. What I do is shower, massage a mixture of cream and ointment into my skin, and apply a layer of this over it after it’s sat on my skin for a minute. After this, I just reapply once or twice as needed. Don’t wash it off until your next shower, just smooth more on too keep a strong barrier so you’re preventing moisture loss. This has worked better than any traditional occlusive method I’ve ever used.
This Desitin Zinc Oxide Cream is smooth when applying on the skin, feels lightweight and comfortable, but sticks to the skin, and forms a FAR superior barrier than a petroleum ointment such as Cerave, Aquaphor, or Vasoline.
As a result, this product really helps deliver other topical products into your skin, as any good occlusive emollient should. Plus. Zinc Oxide is great for healing skin. I’ve had long time skin cracks that have healed in just a few days.
While it’s a great product for diaper rash, it’s ability at helping to restore your moisture barrier, when used in combination with a moisturizer, is highly underrated. I would highly recommend trying it if you have stubborn rough, dry, cracked, irritated, thick skin that just won’t heal.
Just smear a dab on each cheek before heading out to the beach and you’re good to go!
It seems weird to use as an adult but trust me, it works!
