The idea of this is terrific, and when it works, it is amazing. Unfortunately, you have to position the paper just right or when the machine grabs it, it comes out crumpled. It jams easily, and the instructions for unjamming it are vague and not helpful. Currently, I have 300 letters to send out and the machine is unusable because we can't get the paper jam cleared. In fact, the directions we followed made it worse! Don't buy this machine.

I see that some have written negative reviews of this product, but my own experience with it has been positive. We lived on the mission field for eight years and had to send out over 500 newsletters on a bi-monthly basis. We bought this machine because it was, at the time, in 2002, the least-expensive "real" letter folder on the market and had good reviews. We bought it from Martin-Yale (Premier is just an alternate brand name for the same product), and it has worked fine for us. It's true that you have to use two hands to properly position the paper into the slot for folding; but with a little practice this can be done quickly, with the result that this machine saved us many hours of labor. It can also do two sheets at once, but not with a staple. It folds a standard 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper into thirds. As far as jams, our machine jambed only very rarely and it was always easy to clear the jam -- just pull the paper out by hand, or, if stuck more thoroughly, use the plastic "key" (included) to unjam the paper by cranking it out manually.

No matter what I tried I could not get this folder to work to spec. Only one in Ten attempts succeeded. Regularly the paper would get tangled up inside and the only way to extract the mess was to unscrew the four screws holding the case on. Then getting the case off proved very difficult because of the way the power connector was designed.

I bought another model that worked flawlessly. Do not buy this product.

I almost didn't buy this because of all the jamming issues that other reviewers spoke of. I was, however, attracted to the price so I gave it a shot. We only fold one sheet at a time. First paper folded fine. Second jammed and I had to take the cover off to get the paper out. I thought about sending it back but decided on one more try. I held the paper about an inch above the folder and dropped it. Perfect! I fold paper almost daily now with no issues using the "drop" method. If it lasts a year or two, I'll be happy.

This model is very cheap and jammed in the first use. Also, jam is nearly impossible to clear without taking machine apart.

I use this letter folder machine to fold invoices every day. At first, it was like the negative responses on here. Papers would not come out properly, be folded funny, or it seemed like it got jammed every 5 papers. BUT, after using it for about a week I can go about 3 days (300 invoices per day * 3 days = 900 invoices) without a jam or bad fold. It takes a little bit of practice but it will save you a lot of time. Only once in 3 months did I have a problem that a paper got jammed to the point I had to open the entire thing to get the paper. It is a very simple machine and has a very high quality. It might seem like a lot of jams happen when you use it, but with all the time u have saved by using the machine, you are netting less time overall even with the maintenance.

At first I was skeptical about purchasing a used item; but, after reciving the device and sending out 2000+ letters in a day I was sold.

Used to fold 2000 3 page letters in one night! Did great but it was hard to keep the paper straight when feeding. Would be perfect if it has a paper feed tray on top to take care of that. I did have 5 jams (1700 3 page letters!) and they were a little tricky to clean out. I had to remove the cover to clear 2 of them. The wheel on the bottom, I left on the side. No danger and ready to use, like a sowing machine, when you need it! Overall: Well worth the money. I didn't see and ware or deterioration for the hard work! I was producing, MAX, 25 3 page letters/minute! I had to have 2 people feeding me and 3 stuffing the envelopes with my output to keep up to me! OK, up to the Martin Yale Desktop Letter Folder!!!
