This is Pippa & Tyke's story & it is so very heart wrenching! Pippa is still trying to figure out who she is after she was rescued by the Joker's Wrath. The one thing she does know is that Tyke is important to her. He's the one person (besides her sister) that she trusts completely. But she thinks he only sees her as a little sister. She sees him as so much more.
Tyke is learning to walk again after a devastating motorcycle accident left him in a wheelchair for years. He can finally walk again but he still feels like he can't be what he needs to be, for Pippa or his club. Before Pippa came into his life he had pretty much given up ever walking again. But after meeting her & knowing even just a little of what she had endured, he decides it's time to get out if his wheelchair & back on a bike again.
Can these two broken souls find their way to each other? Will they let their pasts dictate their future? This is the final story of the Jokers' Wrath &, in my opinion, may have been the best of the series!!!
This story of Tyke and Pippa was good. Where Santana was a definitely different type of weak than Pippa, Pippa had a reason for her broken pieces and to me she was strong and brave. Tyke loved her, his broken angel and my heart was heavy as he tried to save her. They finally saved each other.
And to know he has eyes only for Pippa is even better. She is a survivor, I love her strength.
I do wish there would have been chapters in Tyke's POV. We didn't get to fully grasp his feelings for anything, including Pippa.
I am so sorry to see this series be completed. It is one of my favorite. I love the brothers in the club, their old lady's, and the fierce protection they have for each other.
I really enjoyed how Bella takes us back and forth, through past and present points of view of Pippa. I really felt the flashbacks to the past were very important to the story and in my opinion explains why Pippa is emotionally and socially stunted and has such a hard time in present day. Her sister and the club guys know she was a slave, but Pippa hasn't revealed to them, nor have they really asked her about the details of what she went through. They all treat her as if she is damaged, and will probably never be "normal' so they all do everything they can to protect her, and keep her as sheltered as possible. Pippa struggles with this because as scared as she is in the world, she knows she has to overcome her fears and learn how to navigate on her own in society.
Tyke...is hot! He is one of the MC guys and was part of the team that rescued Pippa. They grew close immediately and he has been acting as her protector, big brother, best friend for the past three years. Pippa is mesmerized with Tyke, in love with him, but won't tell him because he obviously doesn't feel the same way about her, right? How could he? She's this tiny, fragile, damaged "freak" that everyone pities and feels sorry for.
I enjoyed seeing where the other characters that we met in the previous three books are now in their lives. Who had gotten married, who had kids, what everyone was doing now. We meet some new characters in this book, particularly Rainer, who was a slave with Pippa while she was in captivity. The flashback scenes with Rainer were the best parts of the book for me, and I loved how Pippa comes to find him again and they resume their friendship. We also meet Belle, who Pippa quickly becomes friends with and Max, Belle's estranged husband. Bella has books planned for both Rainer and Max/Belle and I thought how she incorporated them into Pippa's storyline was very creative. Another interesting character that Pippa encounters, Raide, will be getting his own book later down the road.
The journey for Pippa and Tyke to realize their feelings for each other was not a smooth one but once they figure it out the emotions and passion were off the charts. Tyke has issues of his own, having been in a bad accident years before that damaged his legs very seriously and has caused him limited use of his legs and a wheelchair. Being the tough MC biker that he is, he doesn't feel he is worthy of Pippa but she is having none of that nonsense and finally finds her assertive side and pushes for what she's always wanted with Tyke. Of course, being involved with an MC club, particularly this MC club comes with its own set of dangers and there are some pretty intense scenes that cause Pippa to be the strongest she's ever had to be.
I thought the story flowed really well and the flashback chapters incorporated well with the present day chapters. I did feel the story rushed a little bit at the end, and I wish Bella would have drawn the story out a little further and give more of a conclusion for some of the characters. We know that Rainer will be getting his own book in the future, but I felt that he just disappeared at the end of this book. The one character that everyone hated in this book, Tyke's girlfriend Andi, just sort of disappeared as well. I guess I am greedy and really wanted to "witness" Tyke breaking it off with her, but she is just never mentioned again after the big blowup between Rainer, Tyke and Pippa. We do get a small rundown on the main MC characters in the epilogue, but being as this is the final book in this series, again I was greedy and wanted a more drawn out, lengthy epilogue.
It is so sad to know that this is the end of this series. I am hoping that we will get a few glimpses of the characters in Bella's series that spins off this one. It has truly been a joy reading these books!!
