We finally get Mitch and Gracie's story. Mitch, the laid-back bass guitarist for Generation Rejects, who has loved his former bestie since they first met. Gracie, who has put herself back together, shedding that party-girl persona and surviving an alcoholic overdose. Struggling to convince her parents and herself that she can make it on her own, all the while determined to be able to be in the same room as Mitch, when all she wants to do is be his friend again. Hopefully more. After a disastrous tryst a year prior, it's all they can do to remain civil.
Oh my what a story. I had such a nervous feeling throughout this book, waiting for that ultimate moment where Gracie and Mitch would be face to face and not be able to outrun their past. And when the fireworks started and they were forced to get all of their bottled-up emotions out, I was completely captivated. I mean, seriously, there was no way I could put my e-reader down! You can feel the heartache and absolute dread that both Mitch and Gracie carried with them. My heart broke for them. I just wanted to join in with the numerous pleas from all of their friends to open their eyes and just figure out how to be together already. They were truly meant to be. Their hearts knew it. They just had to convince their minds.
The author once again has written a simply perfect book that not only features the unrequited love story of Mitch and Gracie, but manages, masterfully I might add, to update us on all the happenings with the other members of the band and their significant others. Jordan and Maysie, Cole and Vivian and Riley and Garrett are all there. One crazy, loving family who make the right amount of appearances throughout and add just the right touch.
As they all move on to new adventures, I am so sad that this could be the end of the road. But being witness to the love that has been the glue in holding this crew together was a complete pleasure to read. Each love story made me smile, made me laugh, made me cry on occasion and overall just made me extremely happy.
I'm hopeful that one day we might get an update and see how the Rejects are doing down the road. But for now I will savor the warm feeling I have after finishing Desperate Chances, celebrating the reunion of former best friends who now have that chance to be more. It is a stellar finish that I won't soon forget.
A huge 5+++ stars!!!
Gracie is a recovering alcoholic and she has conquered her battle with anorexia. She's on the mend after making a complete mess of her life. She's got a great job as a journalist and the Bakersville gang is an awesome support system of friends. Things are looking up. But the one person she hasn't made amends with is Mitch.
Mitch was left a broken man after Gracie rejected him when he confessed his love. A year later, even being on tour and having a new girlfriend isn't helping him forget about Gracie and his conflicting emotions. But since they share the same friends they both want to try and be friends again. Is it that simple?
I really wanted Mitch and Gracie to sort their s**t sooner so we could see them interacting as a couple in love a lot longer but, overall, I thought it was a very emotional finale to the series. Walters did an excellent job. Farewell Generation Rejects! It was nice being in your world.
Mitch and Gracie's story was absolutely beautiful; my heart hurt so bad for the both of them at times, but fate often has a way of making people come together.
I am so sad that this series is over, but the author did a fantastic job catching us up with the other characters' lives. I was so happy to read about each of them.
Thank you Ms. Walters for creating these beautiful people and sharing this wonderful series with us.
This was an emotional read. I loved the story so much that I simply wish there were more to read! I haven't read a book from this series before and now I'm intrigued to know how the other couples meet! Meredith Walters has her own unique way of telling her stories. Her characters are realistic and so far from what I have read, she always uses antiheroes. But each time the characters have their own unique qualities! And I like that because it's nice to read about characters that are not perfect! This makes them more real and easy to connect with!
Gracie and Mitch were best friends,but apart from this Mitch was in love with her. Gracie didn't feeling ready for something more. Spending a night together will change their lives and break them apart. Now after one year it's time to meet again, both feel hurt. But also they still ave feelings for each other but are afraid to show them.. Can these two finally manage to be together as friends again or something more?
I enjoyed reading about these two trying to find the relationship they have before as friends, even though now things are different for both still they try. Gracie tries to have a new life now that she is back from rehab but her mother is so controlling. Mitch has now a relationship with Sophie and he still feels devastated from Gracie. Now that she is back he can't stop thinking about her.
Mitch is so cute and sweet. He really loved Gracie and cared for her! I loved Gracie,she finally understood what a big mistake she made leaving Mitch behind. But she tries really hard to get back what they had! She was so nice I like her and I could relate with her! Both have missed each other, the moments they have together as friends and now is the time to spend time together again!
