We finally get Mitch and Gracie's story. Mitch, the laid-back bass guitarist for Generation Rejects, who has loved his former bestie since they first met. Gracie, who has put herself back together, shedding that party-girl persona and surviving an alcoholic overdose. Struggling to convince her parents and herself that she can make it on her own, all the while determined to be able to be in the same room as Mitch, when all she wants to do is be his friend again. Hopefully more. After a disastrous tryst a year prior, it's all they can do to remain civil.
Oh my what a story. I had such a nervous feeling throughout this book, waiting for that ultimate moment where Gracie and Mitch would be face to face and not be able to outrun their past. And when the fireworks started and they were forced to get all of their bottled-up emotions out, I was completely captivated. I mean, seriously, there was no way I could put my e-reader down! You can feel the heartache and absolute dread that both Mitch and Gracie carried with them. My heart broke for them. I just wanted to join in with the numerous pleas from all of their friends to open their eyes and just figure out how to be together already. They were truly meant to be. Their hearts knew it. They just had to convince their minds.Read more ›
This book is the fourth and final book in A. Meredith Walters's Bad Rep Series. I can be read as a standalone but I think this is a series that you will get more out of if you read them in order. I wasn't aware of this book being the 4th book in a series when I decided to read it and I have to say, the fact that I didn't read books 1-3 was not a problem at all. The author does an amazing job filling in all the blanks. The biggest reason I recommend that this series be read in order is because all the previous couples play a huge part in this book. Plus each of their stories are wrapped up in this novel.
What I love the most about Ms. Walters's writing is the amount of feelings she puts into her stories and characters. I have read many of her books and I always come away in awe of the story I have read. Her story lines are always interesting and though provoking and her characters are always ones that are relatable and you can't help but fall in love with them. Her books flow effortlessly and the pace that she takes in the book is spot on. I think Gracie and Mitch had A LOT to work through and I don't think them reunited could've come earlier in the book and still been believable. I think my only real gripe about the story is that Mitch strung Sophie along for as long as he did. I would've liked him to cut her loose sooner. Only because it wasn't fair to her.
Desperate Chances is Gracie and Mitch's story. This is kind of like a second chance love story and also a friends to lovers type story.Read more ›
"Because every single minute of every single day that I wasn't with you was wasted time."
Gracie Cook wholeheartedly was in love with her best friend, Mitch Abrams. All it took was one night for her to ruin everything. Sex with Mitch changed the course of their friendship. Mitch has always been in love with Gracie. He thought the one night that they shared was magical and a turning point in their relationship. He saw it as the time they both finally gave each other their hearts but when Mitch woke up the next morning, his Gracie was gone.
When Gracie walked away from Mitch, she was at a stage in her life where she was trying to get her life in order. She was a recovering alcoholic who had just came back from rehab and also trying to conquer her eating disorder.Read more ›
