Beautiful photography and a clever theme make this my favorite cookbook. I can't stand getting a really cool looking cookbook and then never finding a recipe that I want to make or only making one. I've had this cookbook for a few years and have tried many of the recipes. They are easy to prepare, but they don't look or sound like it. Perfect for entertaining. The best bread pudding recipe ever!!

I really wanted to like this book, as another of this author's books launched my culinary life (an overpriced Ebelskivers cookbook). The central idea is compelling: easy to cook and impressive-looking dishes.

But it just didn't click for me. Not one of the recipes said "try me." The author, trying to be encouraging, perhaps, just seems a bit pompous.

I suppose after posting this I'll pull the book out and try one recipe on for size. If so, I'll post my results as an amendment.

P.S. The pictures are great.
