Dessert Mash Ups and Cake Blondies

I’ve constantly amazed by how many bloggers are writing amazing, popular cookbooks at the minute. Obviously it’s not that surprising – the ability to write a great recipe and take cool photos are useful skills both in blogging and in putting together the kind of cookbook that anyone can follow. So I’m not surprised that popular blogger Dorothy Kern has published her first cookbook, Dessert Mash Ups, an attempt to combine various popular desserts into mouth-watering combinations. Some are quite simple, made from basic combinations (mint chip truffles) to some far more creative ones (pecan pie cinnamon rolls? So deadly delicious! Who’d have thunk?) I’m someone who loves interesting combinations – particularly of desserts that I know and love – so I really enjoyed Dessert Mash Ups. There’s also a few recipes which are no bake (after having just finished Christmas, I think we all have times when oven space is at a premium. This would be a good solution when you remember you need a last minute dessert on top of everything else. I would say that there’s a wide variety of difficulty in the cooking skills – some basic recipes onto more complicated ones, so pretty much something for everyone. It’s a great fit for the kind of person who loves cronuts, cake mix cookies or really using foods in a slightly offbeat way!
No matter what kind of dessert you prefer, you will find it in this cookbook. Cheesecakes are made into brownie bars and sandwich cookies, pie is turned into fudge and cupcakes, and fondue is amped up with peanut butter cookies. There are Brookies (brownies + cookies) and Sconuts (scones + donuts), and even a recipe for All Butter Pie Crust, something I definitely will be using!
Dessert fanatics rejoice — this is your new go-to cookbook!
