Reading it has helped me value seasons of "weakness" in my life, for the strength that they built within me and the revelation of God's love they revealed. I felt I always knew this was true but carried shame and condemnation over it all. Chapter 3 helped me to value the moments that Jesus has met me in hard times, in a whole new way and I have more peace about this than ever before.
The idea that your destiny is hidden in the people God has called you to do life with is BRILLIANT. This is so good!!! As someone who has struggled with isolation and a more introverted personality this teaching has really opened my eyes. I feel like I have grown in my understanding of covenant, mutual destiny and find myself more honoring of my "tribe." Thank you KV!!
The part about being misunderstood and hardening your heart was so powerful. It was like a light shone on past relationships and I was able to see behaviors and choices that I had no idea I had made. It helped me to honor the parts of me that are different but not use them as excuses for dysfunction.
I loved the teaching on tridimensional wholeness, our soul needs, the faces of Love and experiencing the Love of God. Sometimes the only teaching on the soul we get in the church, is what not to do. This has left a lot of people hungry, with unmet soul needs, coping mechanisms for life and confusion about the whole thing. This book answered a lot of questions for me on this issue, as well as simply gave me permission to have needs:) I choose to make 2017 a year I learn to intentionally care for my soul.
I love how helpful this book is without having a "self-help" vibe!! I'm tired of those. KV shares wisdom but it's bathed in the reality of God's acceptance and love for us, he doesn't add to God and it never usurps the position of God-first. It didn't leave me with the feeling I had to go do a list of new things. It was more like I became aware of how God is already moving and how to position myself for more. One of my favorite quotes in the book is, "...the force to absolutely positively transform everything in your life (to bless your relationships, fix your finances, heal your body, give peace to your soul, and fully actualize every aspect of your life) is in the presence of God himself."
KV has a fantastic, personal writing style in this book. I found it relatable, easy to read, full of profound truth and practical tools. It is easily the most helpful read I've had in a long time. BUY IT!!
I have read many books in my days. My bookshelves are full to the top with those on leadership. This book should be on your nightstand or desk and never be placed back on the shelf. It should be a manual for building kingdom leadership and people. I have never highlighted more in a book other than the Bible itself. The book is not a cheerleader's guide to creating hope. It is a book of encouragement and wisdom of the process that everyone goes through if he or she desires to be all in all for his or her King.
I am personally in the course of making DTW into a manual for our leadership team. There is so much to extract from the book that you too will be overwhelmed with gratitude. You will learn that struggle is not uncommon. You will see that down cycles can be followed by upturns. You will learn that there is wisdom in how you pursue and discover your destiny. You might believe that you have a destiny, but you lack guidance to get on the right track. Kris walks us through a reasonable search for our heart's desires in Christ and then teaches us how to cultivate it in the Spirit.
I have recommended and recommended this book that you would think me a Kris are good friends. Actually, that one opportunity to be in his house that day was the one opportunity I have been afforded. It is one that has yielded tremendous fruit for me. I believe that anyone breathing should read this book. If you do not believe that you are Destined To Win, you will when you finish. Thank you, Kathy and Kris, for your hospitality and kindness. Thank you for moving forward when stepping back would have been easier. What makes a great book is not how much it cost, or how many it sells, it is the impact it can have on eternity and the souls of those who read it. This one is GREAT in every measure that I can see. I hope you will take the time to read it and discover that you are Destined To Win.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is desiring to go deeper in their mindset to walk out life fully free and fully alive.
