TITAN

Armored Engine of War - Their lightning-charged fists will knock you off your feet. Their armor and shields make them nearly invincible. We like to think they are our faceless knights, protecting us from our countless enemies. But their power and resolve gives them the air of rising Gods.

WARLOCK

Wielder of Arcane Power - They've found a way to weaponize their curiosity, harnessing the Traveler's light in patterns never before imagined. Warlocks are not passive scholars of the unknown. These are mystic warriors, capable of incredible acts of devastation.

GAME MODES

CRUCIBLE

Competitive Multiplayer - Enter the Crucible to hone your competitive skills against other Guardians in arenas that span the solar system. Victory will earn you rewards and reputation.

EXPLORE

On-Demand Adventure - Revisit the worlds you have discovered to aid the City in their exploration efforts, seek out valuable resources in order to upgrade your weapons and gear, and link up with other brave Guardians roaming the frontier in search of action and adventure.

STORY

Epic Campaign - Destiny features a rich, cinematic story, centered on your quest to discover and explore the remains of humanity's Golden Age. As a Guardian, you must venture beyond our walls, into a wild and dangerous frontier, and take the fight to ancient evil forces hell bent on our destruction.

STRIKE

Cooperative Multiplayer - Form a Fireteam, three Guardians strong. Infiltrate an enemy stronghold, cutting through wave after wave of enemy ranks emboldened by their fierce, battle-hardened leaders. Confront an enemy worthy of only the bravest Guardians.

TOWER

Third Person Social Space - Home of the Guardians, the Tower is a third person social hub where you can regroup, rearm, and form new alliances before venturing beyond the safety of the City's walls.

DESTINATIONS

EARTH

Our home. After the Darkness swept over us, we found the Traveler where it made its last stand. Beneath, we built The City – our last – within its protective aura. From here, Guardians stand watch, defend our civilization, and strike out into the wild frontiers of Earth – and beyond – to reclaim our lost worlds.

MARS

What little we know of Mars may as well be a myth. We built a massive metropolis in the red dust. The Darkness swept nearly all of it away; the sand itself claimed the rest. No one knows what remains of our lost age, now buried beneath the dunes.

MOON

Like Earth, the ruins of humanity's former glory can be found scattered across the familiar lunar surface. Recent exploration attempts have been repulsed, reporting increased enemy activity, and even strange tectonic phenomenon. The City has since classified the Moon as a "Forbidden Zone," open only to our most brave and experienced Guardians.

VENUS

Venus was once the site of great discovery – a paradise. Now, it is a monument to all that we have lost. The old stories say we built an academy dedicated to learning and research on the shore of a wondrous sea, and that the waters themselves boiled and rose up to shatter the coast, washing away all that we had built.

ENEMIES

CABAL

Few Guardians have faced Cabal and lived to tell the tale. They are a professional military operation. On every front we have found them on the march, they have already dug in and ringed their installations with razor wire. Now, it seems they've turned their eyes towards us.

FALLEN

Fallen are hardy creatures who can survive in a wide range of environments without heavy armor or complex modifications to their physiology. They travel light, hit hard, and are gone before you know it. Fallen may look like mere scavengers, but on closer inspection you will see hints of a splendid, sophisticated past, and the proud markings of their ancestral "Houses."

HIVE

Hive manipulate the physical world in ways that we can only begin to imagine. The Hive have carved a kingdom deep into the lifeless core of the Moon, and it is there they remain, silent and buried among many dark and terrible secrets, a reminder of the tremendous power that brought forth the Collapse.

VEX

Scattered reports indicate that the Vex appear to be mass-produced machine units, constructed of an unknown metal alloy resembling hammered brass. All attempts to communicate with them have failed. They are hostile. They are unrelenting. They are deadly.

8 years later…
8 years later I’m still very much in love with this franchise despite ALL the various issues throughout the years. Coming back to see my original purchase of my favorite game of all time was here on Amazon from a pre order. And remember now my game came several days after it had already come out but I was still ready to grind nonetheless. Now we’re here in Destiny 2 preparing for lightfall. How time has flown by is truly astonishing. Thank you Amazon for being the source that proved me joy for the past 8 years of my life.

First Impressions:
Destiny is a Beautiful Game. Just go up to the guardian tower and look at the view from one of the railings and you'll understand exactly what I'm saying. There is plenty of opportunities to get to know people in this game, and I've found a lot of people to actually be pretty friendly.

Pros:

- Small Rewards - While Destiny is full of plenty of great rewards and payoffs throughout the game for completing quests and leveling up, it also has plenty of small rewards that help give you plenty to do even when you're not looking to get in a big firefight right that second. Collect special materials, revive dead ghosts, or have a random dance party with strangers on top of a truck in the middle of a battlefield between enemy spawns. You might even find that illusive soccer ball in the tower, and kill some time kicking it around a bit.

- Monsters change with the landscape. - As it should, every planet has its own set of crazy enemy creatures. I mean, sure, some enemies are static and are found everywhere pretty much, but in the mission parts of the game, closer to the bosses, the enemies change, in some ways, drastically. Enemies on the moon are a little different than enemies on Earth, and enemies on Venus are plenty different at points.

- Co-op Patrols - Outside of specific missions inside buildings/restricted areas that only allow your fire team to enter as a group, the rest of the world is pretty much open to your own devices. You may find yourself playing a group game event with a few people you've never met before up to that point. People in the game are all given a similar goal, and open co-op play in the world is promoted even outside of your fire teams. Competitive play is usually kept to the crucible maps, which makes things more fun for everyone, I think.

- Play Tested Well - While some people sort of raise a questioning eyebrow at the three-player co-op team, the game itself seems to be built exactly for 3 players. While most of it can be played with two player co-op, or even solo if you've got the time, the guts, and the patience; the perfect number for a team in this game seems to be 3 players. It's just enough to get through a mission with a variety of skill sets. It also lowers your chances of all getting annihilated at the same time.

Cons:
- Repetitive Maps - While I love the landscape of Destiny, I've found at least a couple maps that look almost identical to each other in terrain and structure. More variety might be in order.

- Xbox Live Issues - At the moment, I'm guessing because the game just came out, Destiny has a big problem of people getting kicked out of the game. Depending on how solid your internet is, this may happen rarely or frequently. And you may not even know how good or bad your connection is until you get in the game. To give you an idea, me and my boyfriend tested our connection the night before in another game. Everything was good, and we had no issues at all, but the next night when we played Destiny for the first time with another friend of ours, in the middle of playing the game, either during a mission or at the tower, I was brought back to the loading screen once, my boyfriend was ejected from the whole game four times, and our friend was either ejected or brought back to the loading screen no less than 15 times in a 5 hour period. And while we all love the game so far, I'd say that this aspect puts a damper on our enjoyment. And we are all playing on Xbox 360. I can't even imagine how bad these issues might be for next gen consoles.

I find the game to be completely exceptional. As long as you do not play it longer than a couple hours a day this game will last you months with just its current missions/strikes/raids. Trust me, if you're leery about buying it rent it and get to the Moon (about six hours of gameplay the first time, considerably less on your second play through and you know how everything works). If you like Halo you'll enjoy this game, its a mix of Borderlands/Halo/Call of Duty and in my opinion one of the best FPS I've played in years. Try it then buy it.

However, if you go into this expecting to get the best gear, best loot in the first day you're going to be disappointed, this game is meant to be played over a long casual amount of time [except for Raids, they take a considerable amount of preparation and special gear to accomplish].

My advice for people playing this for the first time, play by yourself on Normal difficulty until you get through the Moon.
Hard modifiers are meant for Fire Teams, meaning enemies have more health which means you'll have to unload into a boss for 15 minutes before he drops. Don't torture yourself, play on normal if you're by yourself. This game is meant to be enjoyed and that additional EXP that comes with the Harder difficulty does not amount to much when you're not having fun. Have fun with the game and don't burn yourself out and this game will last for years in your library.

Cons:

Crucible PVP, at first the idea of taking in your own gear into multiplayer versus sounded awesome, then after playing it myself with several classes there are some noticeable things; certain classes will always perform better in the Crucible just because of their Supercharge ability which lets them potentially kill everything in the room. Now at first glance that sounds awesome, I WANT TO BE THAT CLASS! I hear people screaming right now.

Now think about it once you get a group solely of that class in Crucible to go up against, instantly your team is at a disadvantage especially if you're a low level player with some Common gear. I.E. you will most likely have to unload two clips of your Auto rifle into a Lv. 21+ until you actually take him down.

'Well then level up and come back to the crucible when you're that level', I hear you say. However the problem with that is some people only play games like this just for the multiplayer versus aspect, look at Battlefield, COD, Halo for those examples.

So in short and I know this "review" is all over the place and doesn't really have a cohesive thought behind it, if you're going to play this game just for the Crucible, you might either absolutely love it or hate it immediately. Play this game for all of its facets and you'll enjoy it. Try eating the whole cake with an entire keg of beer and you'll throw it up and never play it again.

Enjoy it, have fun with it and don't get burnt out on it, and maybe one day you too will become Legend.

The $70 price is a little steep, especially for a last gen game. But so far, it has been the game of the year for 2014. It's been 2 weeks, and I logged 26 hours into it already. The strike missions and solo campaign have been really fun. The multiplayer deathmatch and control type games need work, and takes time getting used to. There is definitely areas it could improve on, such as balancing, matchmaking, content, etc. For a $500 million dollar game, I expected a 10/10 game that rivals GTA 5 and Halo in terms of quality and content. But nonetheless, you won't be disappointed.
