So, Destiny 2.. it's an improved version of the 1st game altho a completely different game, story & world. The story is great & much easier to follow than D1. U don't need to read grimoire cards to follow it like the 1st game. Its all there during game which is an improvement.
It's a lot of fun to play. Leveling system is less complicated & easier to manage. Environment looks beautiful. Details r great. Lots of exploring to do, things (areas, collectibles) to find. As usual, guns r awesome & fun to experiment with. It's a solid shooter. Abilities r a blast to use, new super powers & some revamped sub classes too. New weapon designs r gorgeous.
All in all, I think they did a great job & I appreciate that the developers listen to the community & put a lot of effort into making us happy & making sure we have the best experience possible.
Playstation gets all the exclusives due to the abuse Microsoft put them thru during their deal with them for Halo. So that's a bonus for Sony peeps. It's coming out on PC too & looks amazing from what I saw of PC beta & heard from ppl who played on PC. I don't have a PC, so it's ps4 all day for me but that's cool for ppl who don't have consoles & missed out on 1st game. It
will run smoothest on capable PC's but I'm more than happy with playing on ps4. Available on ps4, Xbox one & PC only. Previous gen consoles will not b getting this game.
If u have ps4, xbone or PC & like fps games, I would absolutely recommend Destiny 2. Plenty of content & activities to do & more will b added. Bungie does special events for holidays & also ltd time only events with special rewards & quests that r fun to stay tuned for. Halloween in D1 was so fun. Everything was decorated & fun quests were given along with rewards u only got if u participated during that event. I'm sure plenty more ltd time events will come to D2 & I look 4wd to them all. Buy this game! It's worth every penny & u will get way more than your money's worth. I played D1 more than any other game on ps4 & am grateful for it since it saved me $ . I didn't buy much during the yr & a half I played D1. It kept me coming back. Even the stuff some ppl called repetitive (after a while) could b enjoyed so many different ways, it really didn't get stale for me. Great stress reliever having an all out war with piles of enemies in patrols & other activities. Many ppl made their own games with friends inside the Destiny world by creating their own challenges or even something as simple as hide & seek. The possibilities r really endless, especially if u r creative & have a fun group to play with. Plenty to solo also. Very easy to link up with new ppl if u don't have any1 to play with & would like to tackle things as a fireteam.
With the lackluster release of the $20 Curse of Osiris expansion, which felt more like a $5 DLC, I have given up on Destiny 2 and regret paying up front for the Season Pass.
The Good: Best FPS controls and feel. Game had a smooth launch, so that is a nice bonus these days. Don't have to grind for hours to get legendary and exotic gear compared to the extreme opposite at launch of Destiny 1; The story, while short, is complete and no need to read cards to get context as in Destiny 1. All the worlds have constant action going on, so lots of things to choose from. As a casual gamer, I can pick it up and put it down and get a feeling of accomplishment. I personally like the modding of gear and glad they did away with the leveling up of gun skills.
The Bad: I HATE timed on missions, increase the difficulty for Nightfall, but timers are stupid and force luck over tactics. The endgame content is lacking a purpose and possibly a result of giving lots of loot (that I have a Good above). I would like to see some endgame awards be outcome based vs. luck of the dice roll (e.g. random drops). I wish they would just add matchmaking to all modes... stop being silly with the "we want everyone to have a fire-team ready at a moments notice"... most of us have lives outside of gaming and since we are not all living in mom's basement may have a hard time connecting with friends each week to do the harder content.
This is a 2 part review
Looks great, great shooting mechanics, very good story line to play in a campaign mode. Playing the game initially I was thrilled, (and I do still like the game). But after completing the story, and the challenges you are left with...
Like the original game grinding is a fact of life, only this time around the rewards are few and far between...on one session I received the same exotic weapon 3 times, another outing the same exotic gear 3 times. too me this is broken. You grind for engrams only to cash them in and get let down:
I am a light level 302 so all of my blue and legendary engrams drop at 192 or 293. I can't level up with that. You can add a mod but that increases only 5, so it becomes a 297 and 298. The Exotic engrams will level up higher, but as mentioned before it seems to keep dropping the same items over and over. So you end up with one piece of gear, armor or weapons at a level 305, but you can't level the other items up unless you grind even more.
