This book had you feeling so many emotions you just had to see how everything would play out in the end. Kelvin and Lily are still dealing with Senior and he was not one to be messed with. Kelvin and Lily are so different from when we met them in Claiming Carter. It was great seeing how much they've grown as a couple, especially Lily. She proves time and time again that she has Kelvin's back no matter what..but will that be enough? You have to read to find out. The Epilogue was the perfect way to end the series..Loved it!
I've enjoyed reading this series and will miss the characters. From the suspense, the romance, love, anger, sadness, this was one hell of a ride and I enjoyed every minute of it. I look forward to what's next from Mr. Greer because I know without a doubt that its going to be amazing!
Do yourself a favor..If you haven't read this series, you need to. You will not be disappointed!

*This series must be read in order & this review may contain spoilers for the first two books.*
At the end of book 2, Kelvin Jr. & Lily learned that Senior had set them up and unless they gave him what they wanted & played by his rules, he would ensure that they both went to prison for a very long time. But if they did what he wanted & satisfactorily, then he would sign over the Red Chip Casino to Kelvin Jr and then he & Lily would mostly get out of “The Family” dealings.
Kelvin Jr quickly realizes that his father doesn’t necessarily play by the rules he makes up & also changes them as he goes and even goes back on what he’s said a deal would be. Six months had elapsed from the time of the end of book 2, to the beginning in this book. However this book took place over the span of a week or so.
Junior’s loyalty is tested by his father & Uncle Clarence. But the things that Junior has to do in order to convince his father, eats away at his soul. He doesn’t want to confide in Lily for her own safety. He wants her to have plausible deniability if she’s ever questioned by the cops and also his family, because this is something that they wouldn’t want her knowing. But when Junior starts keeping things bottled up & not confiding in Lily is when their relationship takes a couple rocky steps.
Lily has always been and still is supportive of Kelvin Jr because he is the love of her life and is her soulmate & future. Kelvin has always confided in her, so when he quits, she doesn’t know what to do. They have worked their relationship as partners and now, Kelvin is keeping things from her and that is completely unacceptable to her. Lily begins to question their relationship and what their future will look like if the current pattern stays the same.
Lily tries to get through to Kelvin and get him to share what is going on. But the way that she goes about it seems all wrong to me. Instead of being supportive so that he knows she will be there for him no matter what, she badgers him, she whines at him, and she yells at him. It got to the point that I just wanted her to shut up because all she was doing was causing more stress for Kelvin. And putting more stress on Kelvin takes his head out of the game and that could cost him his life because of the danger in which he lives. And she just didn’t stop! Also, she was so despondent about their situation after only 2 days that I was shocked, they had been together for a year it wasn’t like he’d been acting that way for months on end.
The ending of this book was a bit of a shocker, but ended well. I just wish that there had been an epilogue that was set a few years down the road so that we could see how Kelvin & Lily were doing, especially since this book was the end of the series.
Kelvin Jr. is even hotter in this book & Lily is a strong woman & I kind of always liked her! Now....Senior is no joke & god can only help him!
The book had it all! If you guys haven't read The Carter Series then I suggest you start now!
