What I was expecting was not anything like what I got and I wish I hadn't wasted my money or time reading it. Why? Number one reason was that my opinion of Nate dropped while reading this and I loved him in all the other books. Number two I didn't want to read how unbelievably Shannon made him lose his head by her touch or smell. It ended up with him feel just wagging along following her like a lost little puppy. Yuck! I could go on and on but it was bad enough listening to it the first time and I certainly don't want to relive it with someone we know he dumps and wasn't Sloane.
The first couple chapters started off perfectly and exactly what I expected. It was funny how he just wanted to get away from her and how she clung to him like glue. However, it quickly went downhill and stayed that way. The entire book is was about him solving a case in Raleigh and his relationship with Shannon and how he began to feel for her. It ends with him catching a glimpse of Sloane.
So disappointed 😞 I really was hoping that after seeing how Shannon finagled her way into his life the book would skip forward to his first few weeks with Sloane. I kept checking the percentage because it was taking so long and I just wanted to hurry and get there. I would have loved getting his point of view and why he stayed with Shannon and never made a move before Warren showed up but this book doesn't have any of that.
I guess I'll never know and even more tragic was the respect I had for Nathan went way down after this book and I was left with a bad taste in my mouth.
My verdict on reading this is know what you're getting before buying. Don't expect any great insight into him with this or how he feels about meeting and working with Sloane because that isn't what you are getting. Plus it was kind of pricey for it being such a short story. If I could go back in time I'd have read the sample and left it at that. I'd be a much happier person right now. So here is to saving someone else from disappointment who like me wanted Nate's pov on Sloane.
Great read!! Can't say it enough & won't go into details so I don't give anything away. But it will keep you going and surprise you too.
On to the next book! Happy reading :)
We'll can't wait for book 4 now...
Excellent book !! If you have not read any of the books yet, I would recommend reading this one 1st!!!
Elicia is an excellent author and she keeps you coming back for more!!!!!
This was a quick read, it took me a couple of hours and then I jumped right into the first book in the Soul Summoner series...I'm very anxious to see what happens next.

Elicia Hyder is an author to look out for and I can't wait for the second installment of the Soul Summoner.
It gives an insight to the series and its better than the book 1.
Nathan is one of the stronger characters I would have liked a longer story.
