It seems like I’m in the minority for giving a bad review but I liked this book in the series the least. I thought the fmc was totally unappealing. At first I thought maybe she was on the prison planet for psychological reasons! I felt as though the authors were trying desperately to write a quirky cute character but it came out very flat for me. One minute she’s shy, yet in a nanosecond she’s ready to take on every adventure possible. She wakes up from cryo sleep and she’s ready to jump the “bones” of the first alien she encounters. This is explained I guess with the fact that she reads so much romance books she’s thus a nypho?🤷🏻‍♀️ Another thing I found annoying was her “pet”. I read a lot of sci fi romance and I’ve read one recently where the fmc has an alien pet. In that book, it was a cute fury animal that actually was helpful. In this book we get a morphed out spider! I don’t even have a problem with spiders, but this was just weird to me. Another thing, note to the author….readers do NOT like it when your characters call out /mention your other books! When I’m reading sci fy I don’t want to be reminded that I am! It takes me out of the story. What an ego…😒
I’ve actually finished the whole series as of date, only because that’s how I am when I start something. I usually enjoy k. Webster books and that’s what brought me to this series. Honestly though, the whole thing has been a bust for me. This is not a standalone and while the previous ones were more of a hfn this one ends on a cliffhanger.

Wow!!! This series continues to just blow everything outta the water. They must have researched so many aspects about nuclear ☢️ war and read other sci-fi stories to really make this story so much more than a sci-fi romance. I’m fully immersed into this world of Mortuus. Thinking back on the first installment to now, it’s just really uncanny in how we’re living in the moment. Taking all of these precautions to decontaminate ourselves so we don’t track anything and keep others safe.
I love Oz!!! This story is by far the most insta love 💗 out of all of them. No fighting. No name calling. No I hate this world and this life. No, Quinn our little bookworm loves adventure and falls for Oz in no time. Their chemistry and relationship is so palpable and charming. I really enjoyed this story. I’ve been in a book funk for months now. I’ll start a new book or two and leave it alone for awhile. Not with this one!!!! I devoured it whole and have so many questions!!!! Where’s Galen off to? How are Avrell and Zoe? What’s going to happen to everybody? Gah!!! I love it!!!

I loved every single thing about this book except the fact that there wasn't more of it! I cannot get enough of all of these mortarekkers and I am always left needing the next book ASAP!
We hadn't seen much of Ozias in the previous books so he was kinda mysterious until The Rogue Captain where we saw more of him. After that book, I had thought well Oz is going to be the first one to not become my favorite but holy rekk was I wrong. Oz is definitely my favorite now. The way he "took care of" "Whisper" before she woke up was so sweet and she has turned out to be one of my most favorite heroines I have read.
I am biting my nails waiting and wondering what is going to happen next.
