Other bags we've had did not last long at all and these have so far outlasted the others and still takes a beating. This does not use a zipper for the main compartment, which is where the others have always failed. The stitching where the shoulder straps meet the bag have also held up well. A place where the cheaper bags seem to tear. Overall, we are very happy with these bags and would recommend. The only negative is the color options. Some colors are more expensive than others, im assuming because of variations in sellers.
I would not hesitate to buy again, he will be using this bag again in 1st grade. I think we will need to move up in size after that. Currently my son is 53" tall and 58lbs. Still fits him like a glove.
Padded straps and back, very comfortable
Chest strap makes it more secure and comfortable to wear
All straps are adjustable, including the closure
BIG main compartment, can fit in a lunch box + puffy winter jacket + a few books
NO supportive bottom (bottom basically one layer of laminated/canvas material, the same one used for the body of the bag) which, I can imagine, can show wear & tear easily if carrying folder with sharp corners/edges
This can fit just one 2-inch folder due to limited width
Overall we picked this because of the function (my child can bring this to swimming lesson, hiking, camps, and school) but if you are looking for a proper book bag, perhaps consider other options (deduct one star for this).
Lots of people have commented on how nice our boys packs are. More importantly, they cost less than the Kikki backpacks. And though they are not as "cute" in design, the Junior packs will last us much longer (at 3 and 4 the packs are bit large but still wearable). I expect each kid's pack to get them through a few yard of elementary school's daily use. I'll add an update.
