About the Author

Michael Penny was born in Ebbw Vale, Gwent, Wales in 1943. He read Mathematics at the University of Reading before teaching for twelve years and becoming the Director of Mathematics and Business Studies at Queen Mary s College Basingstoke in Hampshire, England. In 1978 he entered Christian publishing, and in 1984 became the administrator of the Open Bible Trust. He held this position for seven years, before moving to the USA and becoming pastor of Grace Church in New Berlin, Wisconsin. He returned to Britain in 1999, and is at present the Administrator and Editor of the Open Bible Trust. He lives near Reading with his wife and has a son and a daughter. He also has an itinerant ministry which takes him into several churches of different denominations in Reading, West Berkshire, North Hampshire and South Oxfordshire, and is now Chairman of Churches Together in the city of Reading. He has been on BBC Radio Berkshire, BBC Radio Oxford and Premier Christian Radio a number of times. He is an international speaker having spoken in Canada, America, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, the Philippines and the Netherlands. He has also recorded many Bible studies on CDs. As well as writing articles for Search magazine and Bible study booklets, he has also written several major books including: 40 Problem Passages; Approaching the Bible; Galatians: Interpretation and Application; The Miracles of the Apostles; The Manual on the Gospel of John; Introducing God s Word (with Carol Brown and Lynn Mrotek); Introducing God s Plan (with Sylvia Penny). He has also written The Balanced Christian Life, also based on Ephesians, which is designed for Lent groups or any study group.
