A. Mix it up.. once you squirt out even amounts from both sides, you have to spend a little time to make sure it is 100% completely mixed before using. Seems obvious to me, but ...
B. Yes, everyone is correct about the smell. wow. it is the worst.. whew.. i don't really mind that so much, but the problem is that the smell does actually persist after it's set up. that's too bad. not nearly as strong of course, but if it warms up or something later, you will smell it (not great if it's in a helmet - yes i know from experience)
C. The bond is absolutely phenomenal. Best stuff I have used to date.
D. I am able to find it locally, but only at Ace Hardware.
E. the cap is a terrible design, if you have used it, you know what i mean. but a simple piece of tape to hold the cap on does this trick.
I just wish that Devcon sold the white color in this size. But they don't, only the cream color.
I used this to mend some small cracks in the Luran plastic-covered hull of my Hunter 170, and it appears to have done the job. Time, of course, will tell, but it looks like it bonded well.
I have never been a fan of the twin-syringe packaging of two-part products, and this has been the worst experience yet in that regard. Because the syringe is black (by necessity, I presume), it is impossible to tell whether there is an air bubble in either of the cylinders. In my case, that resulted in a huge amount of wasted product before I could get anything flowing from the second cylinder. Dear Devcon: I am perfectly capable of squeezing equal amounts or a gel from separate tubes. Your twin-syringe packaging makes this more difficult, not less.
Of course, more wasted product means more profit for Devcon, so why change anything, right?
HINT ONE- Do not put this in the garage with your other glues. Recommended storage temperature is between 55 and 75 degrees Fahrenheit. TOUCH-EEE!
HINT TWO - 4 to 5 minute working time at the very maximum. Mix it fast, apply it quickly. Do not mix any more than you can apply within 4 minutes of starting the mix.
It is still better than other plastic glue I've tried.
