I have been on pins and needles waiting for this book. I absolutely loved Imitation and couldn't wait for more of the series. Well. I was not disappointed at all with this book, but now I have to wait for the next one. Why? Because Heather broke me. Yep. She did. She took this series to the next level and I can't think about anything else but what has happened and what is yet to come. I have other books that I am attempting to read, but I can not get my brain to stop thinking about Ven. And Linc. And Daniel. And the rest of the Imitations.

My heart absolutely breaks for Ven in this installment. She is so desperate to help her friends while keeping herself alive. She doesn't have many people that she can trust. And her forbidden love with Linc? Oh man. Heather Hildenbrand captured all of the emotions and suspense and urgency of Ven and I was able to feel all of it. I was so captivated by the story that I stayed up all night to read it. I couldn't NOT stay up and finish it. I absolutely, positively had to keep reading it come hell or high water. I'm glad I did, but damn; I'm broken. Heather took my heart and my mind hostage starting with Imitation and continuing the torture with Deviation. She's not going to release them until this series is finished. And maybe not even then. This series is one that you can't help but be enthralled with as you have no idea where it's going to take you. All I know is that I love roller coaster rides and this is one that isn't for the faint of heart.

This is book two in the Imitation series and all I can say is ‘where’s the third book?’ I don’t normally start my reviews with talking about the ending but this one has me stumped. Not stumped that I didn’t understand it but stumped that it’s got that ending.
Picking up where Imitation left off, Ven who is the imitation of Raven Rogen is on a mission to bring down her creator and Raven’s father, Titus. She is working with other imitations who have freed themselves to free them all. Imitations are used to stand in for the originals if they are sick or in danger.
There are plenty of twists and turns and the pace is very fast. I don’t know what I was expecting from this book and I’m a bit half-half. In some areas it exceeded my expectations and then in others, it just didn’t get over the line. Ven for instance. I don’t know what happened to her. I just didn’t get the same feel that she was the kick-ass, woman on a mission from the first book. She’s still playing sweet with Linc while keeping up her dual identity so a lot of that feels like it’s on repeat because it’s not progressing as much. To me, it felt like there was too much ‘keeping up appearances’ rather than focusing on the task at hand but when they do get to it, it’s devastating. Takes a great author to be able to write something that causes the feels in a reader.
If I started pinpointing what I liked and what I was devastated about, I will be giving up spoilers. I just felt the ultimate outcome was very choppy. I was really hoping for a different outcome. Me and my fellow bloggers and readers are crying out for information on will there be a third book.

OMG, you guys. THIS book!!! I loved book one of this and impatiently waited for Deviation to come out. When I got an eArc of it, I dived straight in and I honestly didn't want to leave the book down. My poor heart!

After what happened in Imitation, Ven is trying to bide her time and make Titus trust her. She is trying to be the best Raven she can. Appearances are everything but Ven has a secret agenda and is trying to free every Imitation from the lab. Can she pull it off from the all seeing Titus?? Just who can she trust?

What can I say about this amazing book!! Character wise, Ven is as awesome as always. She puts on a brave face but underneath is so strong yet so broken. She longs to free her Imitation friends and does everything she can to try, but Titus always seems to be one step ahead of her. She just wants to be free, free to live and love who she pleases.

Linc is as adorable as well. He is Vens rock and he has stolen some of my heart. He is such a sweetheart and exactly what Ven needs.

The plot of Deviation is fast paced and action packed. Titus is such an evil power hungry person. He is swapping people for their Imitations just to further his goals. Could you imagine living in a world where you don't know who is real and who is an Imitation? If you don't agree with Titus then you can be pretty sure you will be replaced!!

Anyway, Deviation was amazing. So much happens in such a small length of time that you are left reeling. Heather Hildenbrand is not afraid to toy with your emotions and believe me when I say that Deviation will do just that. My heart broke and I was left gasping at certain parts. I cant say much more because I will spoil it but suffice it to say that Heather is evil!!!! Lol.

There are times where I feel it drags on, the first book moved more quickly, this books took more time getting more into the reason behind Ven being kept as Raven, and they still haven't explained the whereabouts of the real Raven. They keep introducing new characters, try to mislead you on their importance to the story line, there has been a couple of characters brought into the story then they disappear for so long, such as Raven's supposedly very dear close girlfriends that she was to stay close with once out of Twig City, and they haven't been in the story line much at all. Then you have Raven's father who has a way of keeping track (don't want to spoil that one) and Ven has been off with Ling, a body guard places she shouldn't be, as well the body guards not noticing changes being made. I know this sound jumbled, but sometimes the story line does also in the book, I hope the third in the series brings it all together. The first book was a great beginning.
