Wow, this was a frustrating and angst filled book. Even saying that, I did like reading this book. For most of the book, there was a lot of animosity and sometimes hate between the two protagonists, Daimon and Addie. So much so that you begin to wonder if you are indeed reading a romance? They met in high school while she was the valedictorian and he was her bully. Life happened and 10 years later, they are in different roles where Daimon offered propositions that will have you thinking does he still want to bully her or truly just help Addie. I feel overwhelmed for Addie. She doesn't seem to get a break in her troubles. The story was told only from Addie's POV, so you only feel her despair and conflicting growing feelings for Daimon. Daimon was an enigma to me. I couldn't figure out what his true goal was as far as Addie was concerned. He seemed to be playing games with her and something or someone was holding him back from revealing his true self and intentions. I look forward to the rest of this series as I hope Addie gets her HEA, even if it's not with Daimon. After everything she has endured and sacrificed, she deserves it.

This was an interesting story that kept my attention but at times, I disliked the main characters. The H was a former bully of the h's when she was in high school. In the present he offers her money to be his pretend girlfriend and then proceeds to send mix signals as to how he feels about her. He is very immature. It is as if he never matured from when he was young. While I liked a jealous and possessive hero and he was, he was too violent in his reactions for my liking. I was concerned at times that he would hit the h. I was relieved when he did not. The h, at times, acts too much llike a martyr, which I found annoying. Also she blew hot and cold in her reactions to him. She hated him, then wanted to be with sexually and then disliked him again.

The cliffhanger ending was annoying but at least the author warned the readers, which was appreciated. I am not sure that I want to read the second book. I will wait until after I read the reviews to decide as I value Amazon readers feedback.

This book is going to have you so wrapped up that you can’t put it down till you finish it. Addie had it all going for her coming from a family that doesn’t have much she has pushed herself to always do her best. Daimon always the bully picking and tormenting Addie any chance he could. You going to love and hate this story. It’s going to have you in tears and ready to fight all at the same time. I could not get enough of this book and can’t wait till the next book comes out. I have to tell you this is a really good cliffhanger book; you are just left staring at the book wondering what just happen. It was awesome to have a book to that to me. I love books with cliffhanger but this one topped the cake. Biting my nails for the next book to come out!

This book is going as one of the top books I read this year!

This could have been so good, but it became unbearable towards the end.

Addie was just b***hy. I felt like she just wanted to play the martyr card. Addie gave up a full scholarship to Yale when her mother was killed by a hit and run driver. She stayed back to take care of her family diner and her sister, Sophia. 10 years later, Addie is still taking care of her father's failing diner and her spoiled sister, Sophia. Damien used to bully Addie in high school as well as other kids in school. Damien is back and he makes Addie a proposition. If Addie pretends to be his girlfriend he will pay for Sophie's first semester at Yale. Addie will do anything for Sophie. WHY??? I do not know. Sophie needs to get a job and stop being the spoiled, ungrateful brat. At first you will not think this about Sophie, but the brat shows her true colors later. Anyway, Damien has no idea Addie suffered anything during the 10 years he was away. Addie does not share anything, but always has tears. At first, I understood why she did not want to share, but then it became annoying.

This book was based on secrets and miscommunication to the MAX. The story just went in circles.

The premise was there, but the execution fell flat.

I think my words will be some of the hardest that I have to write, because I am not quite sure how much of this story that I liked. Yes that sounds harsh, but after some searching, I've had to at least liked it a little bit because I finished it, and if I don't like a story, I won't finish it. So point one.
Point two, this plot is one that is hard to digest, not saying that it could never happen; because quite frankly the basis is an everyday occurrence in some lives, but still it's a tough one at times.
OK. The Devil Behind Me starts with a young girl, Addie, who has had a wonderful opportunity given to her for her education and reaped the benefits by being the best in her class. One problem she has is she's constantly bullied, for everything; clothes, where she lives, who she is, but that stops,( when she's in public), when the most popular boy makes it so everyone leaves her alone, only to keep her under his thumb for himself. But I secretly think he has a thing for Addie... Fast forward 10 years and said boy, the devil himself Daimon has reentered her life, only to still be as controlling as ever. Well he finds out that Addie has never left to do the great things with her life that she was meant to do and he makes a proposition by way of contracting her to be his girlfriend in the public eye to get his parents off his back. Addie accepts but with apprehension because well, Daimon is the devil in disguise. Soon the bickering starts (sometimes comically) and soon morphs into something else, Something I don't think they're ready to say out loud. Being the difficult person he is, I think Daimon will do anything to make sure he has Addie to himself forever.
BOOM CLIFFHANGER!!!
