Rogues & Gentlemen Book 4
Dishonoured and ashamed, the ton's scandalous darling, 'Beau' the Marquess of Beaumont, is forced to flee England to escape debtor's prison. After a chance encounter, it appears Miss Millicent Sparrow is his only remaining friend, however unlikely. Miss Sparrow lives up to her name.
Damaged and terrified by her cousin's violent abuse, Milly is used to being overlooked and prefers it that way, until the desperation of her bleak world is gilded by rakishly handsome Beau's extraordinary friendship.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐I read the first three books of this series and I loved each one. I had mixed feelings about purchasing this book because I wasn't sure I could like the Hero. I fell in love with Beau. I loved Milly and together the two made an amazing couple. There were times I worried if they'd ever get it right. I loved this book. It's a must read and a new favorite.~ Amazon customer review
Miss Sparrow’s lively letters help Beau through his banishment and when his father dies suddenly and Beau inherits the Dukedom, he seeks out his little bird. To his shock he finds a woman in despair and, moved by pity, he offers her the protection of his name by marriage.
But Milly becomes impossible to overlook, and the more Beau needs his wife, the less interested she seems in her gorgeous husband.
For this rake, getting a woman's attention has never been so complicated.
Warning: This book is liable to contain mild swearing and descriptive sex scenes!

I enjoyed their talks and letter's back and forth it really gave you an insight to their true character's. There romance builds slowly which was another plus for me. I dislike when lust come before the romance, but not here. Our h leaves the H (and rightly so), but I felt she gave in to fast and the only reason I had with this story.
They both brought out the best qualities in each other and their backgrounds will tug at your heart. There is some suspense, and interesting dialogue that held my interests.
The lovemaking is cold shower time but full of passion (and description), but not erotic for me at least. I have to care for my character's to not mind the lovemaking. We do get HEA, no cliffhanger and no cheating (but almost). I have signed up for this author's newsletter because I enjoy how she pulls you into her stories.
I am not going into the premise, as many have described it, just what you may get out of reading this story. (ljb)
Emma V. Leech has written a truly an emotional Regency love story of personal realization and redemption, sacrifice and salvation, friendship and forever love. As with her past books, Ms. Leech's writing style flows beautifully in both dialogue and descriptions. Even though the pace of the plot is steady, this is not a book to skim read. Each word and phrase is filled with meaning and emotion, so readers must just take their time and enjoy it rather than rush through it. You will also want to savor Beau and Millie's development and growth as individuals and as a couple.
All in all, I loved this book. Although there are no vulgarities, there some pretty descriptive marital intimacies and erotic circumstances, which only allow me to recommend this enjoyable stand-alone story for mature readers who are not easily offended.
The first part of the book is the best – I definitely identified with the h.
It’s highly influenced by Georgette Heyer (which is a very good thing), especially by Friday’s Child: the Tiger tries to steal the H’s watch and is distracted by calming a runaway horse; his name is Jimmy rather than Jason.
I’ve found few anachronisms, although some of the sentences are rather informal for the Regency era. For example, “Oh, very well,” she replied. … “But if you please in the parlor, I’m sure you don’t wish the household to listen in on you.” Georgette phrased it “don’t show the porter that face, if you please! You have advertised your displeasure to enough people already.’
I must praise Ms. Leech for developing her own style, rather than copying Georgette’s.
One paragraph I objected to read, “Well I can hardly expect you to protect me from the women can I, …” There are several missing commas.
Notice that my complaints about the novel are small grammatical/conversational ones, and I gave it five stars overall.
There are a few redundancies very early in the book, and way too many references to the butter yellow walls. I did get a little tired of two people afraid for half the book to actually talk to one another. And I did think it seemed very unlikely that Milly would go from frightened innocent to sex-starved temptress in 48 hours - graphic prints or no graphic prints.
Fnally, I don't know much about epilepsy, but I will say I was a bit skeptical that people die from it the way Edward did.
Beau was a Marque and on the run because he try to run off with his best friend's fiancee but was caught and end in a duel, so he run to France. While he was in France his father for and he is now the Duke of Ware. When he return the first person he want to see was Milly.
At a party, Milly was being threaten by Brownlow when Beau can to her aide, now they are marry. Can he find love with Milly and can Milly see herself as a beautiful woman? Great story.

Finally, Mrs Goodly’s aunt, how old is she? Mrs Goodly confesses to being 70, then goes to visit said aunt, and not a word about her great age which in the 1800s was extremely rare. Sorry, first two wonderful, this one a turn off, it will be a long time before I turn to this author again.

AND TELL EACH OTHER THE GOSSIP.
HE RETURNS AND THEY COME TO AN ARRANGEMENT
That's it I will not spoiL what happens next but it's good give it a read.

The tale lightly touches on a number of issues relate to women and their status in the Recency period and on the issue of epilepsy or fits and how society viewed such things. Has some highly racy scenes that are well written.
