Heroine Kate Saxee is full of sass and humor, plus she even has two hunky guys that are begging her for attention, which creates sexual tension that will almost set your pages on fire! Add to that some crazy small town gossip, a caffeine addiction we can all relate to, and a mother that is such a train wreck she will make you anticipate her next accident. You will even secretly wish your mother could be as entertaining as Kate's!
You will love Ford's fresh, unique voice and you'll be happy you added this comical caper to your to-be-read pile. You MUST pick this book up. I am even going to give you an, "I told you so," in advance. :) Happy reading!
This book was a great read! Small town living comes to life through the characters and situations. Enough twists and turns to keep it interesting and some great lines that had me laughing out loud. Had me guessing who done it almost to the very end.
Well written and fun. Looking forward to Kate's next adventure!
And the cover art is pretty cool too!
The humor of the book balances the serious subject. The most humor of the novel comes both from things that happen to Kate and the way the small town watches every move and gossip blows everything out of proportion. Kate's naivety is a little over done but I know people like that so I can deal with it. I haven't explained this well, but this book belongs in the TBR of every reader of light or cozy suspense. I bought it because it was highly recommended by friends on one of Shelly Fredman's Facebook pages. Thanks for the recommendation guys!
Kate is a clever, witty, VERY funny and gutsy heroine whom you'll like immediately. All the other characters are very good indeed, and when The Ladies appeared I could picture them so vividly they became real from the beginning.
You don't have to be a former Mormon like me, or even a present one, to understand the mentality of "small town Utah" --- the way of thinking of some characters like Mrs. Olsen who told Kate that "only the devil drinks coffee" --- and the way the author portrays everybody - especially Hawke, Dylan, and Spence.
Great reading! Great writing! Great plot!
I am a writer myself and I want all my stories to have an impact on readers like this one had on me.
I'd give this story TEN STARS if I could.
