About the Author

Dr. Jack Winnick is Professor Emeritus of Chemical Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology. He has also taught at the University of California, Berkeley and UCLA. His career includes work for NASA, the State Department and many years in the chemical, nuclear and aerospace industries. He holds seven U.S. patents in the area of electrochemical processes for air and water pollution control. At NASA he aided in the development of life-support equipment on the Shuttle, Skylab and Space Station. Jack has been a Middle East scholar for over forty years, traveling to the area for the State Department for the purpose of technology transfer to the Arab nations, and cooperation between Israel and Egypt. He has been a strong advocate for the State of Israel for over forty years. He is a member of AIPAC, Zionists of America, American Friends of Magen David Adom, and other similar organizations. His writings include over two hundred technical papers, and three technical books; including an internationally-used text on chemical engineering thermodynamics (Wiley, 1996). Devil in False Colors is his third novel. He lives in the Los Angeles area.

Winnick's Best Yet!

This is the third novel, by Jack Winnick, that I've read. It is the best yet. Winnick's plots are always spectacular. If the plot doesn't grab you in the first pages... you're missing something. His characters are interesting and completely genuine. Some authors write about the Middle-East; Winnick KNOWS the Middle-East. You will read a gripping and entertaining work of fiction but you will also come away with valuable and subtle insights about the region and its "players" that you will not find elsewhere.

I've enjoyed every one of his novels and I have to observe that Winnick's writing and his novel's readability have improved greatly from book to book. A late-comer to fiction writing, Winnick has, nevertheless, mastered the written media and his prose is now very clear and precise. Aside from his plots, characters and insights, DEVIL IN FALSE COLORS is a pleasure to read.

We all enjoy the usual elements of a good novel of international intrigue, suspense, mystery, surprise and so on. In this latest Jack Winnick novel, Devil In False Colors, we also get informed. His plot reflects today’s headlines and the television evening news. The reader learns what has happened and is happening in the Middle East. How terrorist organizations developed. What are the threats they pose for the United States and its allies. Additionally Winnick provides detail not often seen in the genre. They’re not just missiles; they are “Sidewinders” sold to Iran by the U S. They are not planes; they are “Grumman F14 Tomcats, also sold to Iran by the U S. It’s not a gun in his hand; it’s a “Glock. “ And he supplies the capabilities of such military ordnance. His novels add up to more than a good read.

The opening chapter always grabs you. This is an excellent follow-up to his previous two books, but even if if you haven't read the previous two this will stand on its own. He really does a good job of explaining the Muslim religion and separates the two different sects. The way this ended, I hope he hasn't finished this as a series because I think he still has a lot more to tell. Because this book is not PC, I doubt you could see this as a movie or limited TV series. That's a real shame.

A good blood-and-guts action thriller. The good guys are the Israelis and Americans and the bad guys are the Iranian jihadis who want to destroy Israel and its ally, America. The hero is Uri, a Mossad assassin and the heroine is Lara, a beautiful blond FBI agent. Together they tackle the jihadis who are murdering Jewish children in California. There is good sexual chemistry between them and lots of lethal action. An entertaining escapist read.
