If you are open minded enough to overlook that, then you can find the reason why Communism always ends in death. It will help dispel the myth that it hasn't been done right and that it works exactly how Marx intended. It does this by showing you Marx's other works and describing his life style. He was not a very good man to put it lightly.
If you do not know very much about Communism, and Marx this would be a good starting point. If on the other hand, you want to continue parroting the line that it "Communism hasn't been done right" skip this book and stay ignorant.
If a soul is in a state of grace, the wicked temptations are less or alternatively God gives His friends great aid to resist. But in those people in a state of mortal sin, upon whom is written the condemnation of perdition, God allows the demons to have great power to tempt. In other words, God gives demons power to DIRECTLY stimulate certain neurons in the brain to bring out impure images or alternatively to stimulate the non corporeal soul to certain ideas, such as the notion to exterminate all Christians. The communists who commit such murders are not aware that they have had direct brain or soul stimulation. They “just feel” the hatred against Christians and of Jesus Christ. They don’t really know why they feel so strongly. But it is indirectly their own fault for being in a state of mortal sin. And demons are allowed by God to have immense power over these people. They hate God. They hate those people who love God. But these atheists don’t know at all WHY they have such hatred. The answer is that it is the demons inside of them....not, mind you, of demon possession as exorcists understand the term, but rather of the very great influence these demons have to DIRECTLY cause the firing of visual neurons to bring about impure images or DIRECTLY stimulating certain centers of the immaterial soul to cause passions of hate and contempt toward Christ and His servants. The demons are very restricted to these temptations in people who are in a state of grace (although even here God sometimes allows demons to cause violent temptations to them to further try His saints or to increase their crown of glory, yet does He aid them greatly unlike in souls who are in mortal sin). But these atheists and communist murderers cannot just claim that it was the demons or the the head demon, Lucifer, that made them feel such hate and commit such atrocities when they are brought to the Severe Judge. No. They themselves are guilty for being in mortal sin from not praying, not avoiding the occasion of sin, and thence into all iniquity.

However, as I continued reading I realized that his bias is a serious flaw. I long ago learned the history of the Roman Catholic Church, and I know that it, through the ages, has been as much of a beast as communism. But Kengor is either blind to this, or, if he is aware, does not want his readers to be aware.
As I continued to read The Devil and Karl Marx, I realized Kengor had an agenda to present the Roman Catholic beast in the best possible light. He excused or diminished or overlooked the sins, persecutions, tortures, slaughters, and all the sordid things of the RC Church. Yet, at the same time he presented the communist beast in the worst possible light, revealing all the sordid things about its founders and adherents. He was pitting one beast against the other, one as an evil devil and the other as a righteous angel. This is so wrong, it brought my rating of the book way down.
There was so much I appreciated in Kengor’s book! As a writer myself, who has had to wade through ugly histories, I know what he meant (and I laughed) when he talked about having to shelve his research into Marxism for a while because it pollutes the mind. I had to wade through such material in my own histories of the Reformation and when writing about the Matthew Bible. Kengor is an engaging writer and good teacher. It is a pity his work was so marred. Just a few points I noticed:
1. He made a big point of saying the commies were particularly successful in duping Protestants.
2. He says it is only correct to capitalize “Church” when speaking of the RC Church.
3. Mariolatry: He spoke of how a converted commie found peace bowing before a statue of Mary. (p 282) In his discussion of this woman’s “conversion” he made no mention at all of Christ. (p 282). These are RC errors, of course.
4. His presentation of Christ reveals a misunderstanding of how he is man’s Saviour. At p 399 he quotes Pope Ratzinger (sorry I don’t recall the pious name this pope took) teaching Christ as “the measure of true humanism.” Ratzinger said a “mature adult faith is deeply rooted in friendship with Christ.” These fair but false words do not present Christ as the Son of God come in the flesh to save man from his sins, and salvation as the knowledge of God through Christ. (Not “friendship with” Christ. What is that?) Such statements do not give the saving knowledge of Christ.
5. Kengor mocked the idea that Pope Pious XII was called Hitler’s pope. But surely he knows that one of his fellow RCs, John Cornwell, set out to research and defend Pope Pious XII only to discover that he really was Hitler’s pope. And Cornwell published a book about his discoveries called “Hitler’s Pope,” which everyone should read.
With regret therefore this book gets a low score from me. There are other sources that teach very well about communism, such as The Epoch Times news, which publishes print newspaper available in Canada and online.
This book adds much to the actual understanding of Marxism and lays bare its true nature and objectives.
I highly recommend it to millenials, who, as many surveys have shown, view socialism more favorably than capitalism, without having a real understanding of its destructive force in every society where it has been implemented. An understanding of the true foundations of communism/ socialism and cultural Marxism is the essential antidote to the menacing hold that it now has on Western societies. This book is a must read for anyone concerned about what is now happening in free nations everywhere.
