Three Games for the Price of One
The Devil May Cry HD collection brings the first three original Devil May Cry titles, Devil May Cry, Devil May Cry 2, and Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening Special Edition together in one high definition package for the first time.
Devil May Cry
Originally released in 2001, Devil May Cry introduces Dante, a professional demon hunter driven by the single-minded urge for revenge. Convinced to join the struggle against a demon emperor, Dante's skill, style and attitude will lead to a range of experiences, but many things in life, as well as death are not necessarily what they seem. The game features mission-based leveled combat, that introduces the franchises graded style-based combat, as well as powerful "Devil Trigger" functionality, which temporarily transforms Dante with demonic powers.
Devil May Cry 2
Released in 2003, Devil May Cry 2 centers on Dante and his new devilishly agile partner Lucia in their fight to defeat a man hell-bent on achieving supreme power through the raising of a terrifyingly dangerous demon. In addition to the graded combat and demonic powers seen in the earlier release, the game contains new defenses abilities and upgraded existing abilities.
Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening
Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening Special Edition is the definitive edition of Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening. The game is a prequel to the entire series and explores the shaping of Dante's character leading up to the events of the original game. The game features an updated combat system that allows the player to select from multiple combat styles that can be altered at different points in the game. Along with the original game, this special edition released in 2006 features a number of enhancements, including the opportunity to play as Dante's twin brother, Vergil, and the addition of the Bloody Palace Mode and the Turbo Mode.

DMC 1 and 3 are just as amazing as they have always been, and look great in HD. DMC 2 is just as "meh" as it always has been. I can now retire my DMC PS2 discs.
I have not stopped playing this collection since it came out. After all these years, this series is fun and amazing. Play it!
Devil May Cry holds itself even in the current day and age as a great and challenging hack'n'slash, and is still a very satisfying play. DMC2 is fun, even if a bit disappointing after the first, and DMC3 recaptures the beauty of the first one a little more.
Overall, great fun, highly recommended for the price, value, and fun. Check it out when you need something new to play!
If you're looking for a casual button-smasher that reminds you of an early God of War, this is definitely a step in the right direction. The story is rather corny and Japanese-esque, but if you're looking to have something to play with for less than $20, this is definitely something you want to give a try.
I added this game to my 200+ Xbox 360 collection because it's worth it for the price.
I will start with the product itself - I was a little disappointed by the lack of a game manual which I am accustom to having in almost any game.. unless its a used game ... so given that this was a brand new purchase, I was a little taken aback by its absence. Though, the disk is three games.. so having three game manuals, might be cumbersome in the packaging?
That aside, I will move on to the game(s). I have never played Devil May Cry before, even though it has been out for years. I have played about 30+ hours of just the first game. I find the sound track to be phenomenal. The camera to be 'unique', but I think it works for the game - kind of like watching a movie of yourself playing a game with you as Dante.
As a game produced in the early 2000s, and with games like Skyrim out (which sadly I find to be over-hyped), there are noticeable traits that I would have liked to see in the game.. namely, a tutorial built in to game play.. as it is, it leaves a new player to both series and game style a little bit "lost" which can be fun in and of itself.. it's a small throw back to playing games as they were when consuls like NES and Gensis were king/queen. Though, when facing bosses, the game leaves you a bit ill prepared for what the heck to do to them.
This is made up for by the informational components built in to the menu system, and makes the lack of that aforementioned game book seem less like a loss.
And I guess that is all I have for now. Given the price and to have three games all on one disk, gives me a nice warm glow like having The Orange Box all over again as a new addition to my collection :) More game for less buck!

This is worth buying just for dmc3 alone. Seriously, I will never look at action games the same way after playing dmc3. It's an amazing, challenging game. Totally worth buying.Published 4 months ago by seth
