It's not every day that a book can comecreeping out of veritably nowhere and shake me to the core like this one did. I applaud the author for 'taking it there' when a lot of otherfolks in the genre won't."

"The Devil Stood Up is brutally honest and Christine Doughertypulls no punches. Perfectly balanced, the violent scenes are veryviolent and the sensitive scenes are anything but sappy. Her charactersare fully alive with dialogue that is spot-on and in Carrie Walsh,Christine has created one of the scariest characters I've read in quite a while. The Devil Stood Up shows us that we don't really need todevil inside of us to do the bad things we do, we're pretty much capable of doing terrible deeds all on our own. This is a refreshing take ongood vs. evil.
I highly recommend The Devil Stood Up."

"A word of warning - this novel is not for the easily squeamish. Themurder the child is brutal and extremely disturbing. That being said,Christine has created a brilliant story with characters that come alive. Some you'll hate and some you'll love. The story twists and turns andkeeps you guessing."
