Good Luck Ms. Loren with your wonderful new series. Hopefully the word gets around. I will be purchasing all your books. Every woman loves a bad boy and wants to always be the one to change him and it has to be a very strong woman to accomplish that, you did that with the character, Kayla. The bad boy image always works and you made sure to always keep up with Nick's image, but softened him up when it came to Kayla. Looking foward to reading all your books.
I am all for a faster-paced novel, but it seems there is no build up to events. I wasn't really on the edge of my seat like I have been with some other ones.
The sex scenes are anything but steamy. It seems almost like a part of the plot. They are inserted to show that the main character is feisty.
I liked the book because it was dark, and I am a sucker for a bad boy that falls in love with the main character. And I absolutely love that the main character doesn't take things sitting down. She is feisty and tough, which is a breath of fresh air compared to some romances, where the love interest always rescues the chick.
Overall, it was a 4 - the second book was a 2, so between the two I give it a 3/5 stars.
This one's been on my kindle for a while(downloaded it while it was on sale), for some reason I was a little turned off by the cover so I didn't pick it up right away. So glad I finally did, because boy have I been missing out on a darkly disturbing, but highly erotic romance/suspense story. I was sucked in through the prologue and couldn't put this book down. The suspense and twists and turns will keep you on the edge of your seat. The whole book feels almost as if you are waiting for the other shoe to drop.
Kayla is kick ass heroine. She is strong, confident, and defiant. She has put YEARS into getting close enough to Nick to revenge her sister, but once she gets to know him will she be able to follow through with her plans?
"He does look incredible, I wish I didn't hate him so much." ~Kayla
Nick is mysterious. He is undeniably sexy. He is powerful. He is pure alpha male, with a darker side full of secrets. His character grows and evolves throughout this book, by the end parts of him are almost unrecognizable.
"I love you. I love you Kayla. I hate it, but I do. Your drive me absolutely insane but I love you so much that I think about you constantly. Even when you are asleep right next to me, I worry that if I fall asleep that you might not be there when I wake up."
The pacing in this book was perfect for me, glossing over parts where details aren't needed and giving a heart stopping play by play where they are. It is action packed and full of drama, not for the faint of heart!
Yes, this does end on a cliffhanger. And I'm going to have to cut this review short because I need to go start the sequel, like NOW!
