The Devil's Kiss: OH MY GOSH WHAT JUST HAPPENED!! The first novel in this series is amazing and a real page turner. I was able to feel everything Kayla felt and I wanted to just love and hate Gage all at the same time. The sex scenes are so hot and sexy! Also if you love a hot sexy dominate alpha this one is for you. I am absolutely in awe of this first book! I cannot wait to see what else Gemma James comes up with!
The Devil's Claim: This book blew me away! Gemma James has an amazing mind and being able to put her talent on paper and share it with the world is amazing! This is a must read. It is dark and full of twists and turns. The book will leave you with your jaw dropping wondering what the heck just happen.
The Devil's Wife: I absolutely loved this book! If you did not think the series could get any better, WELL IT DOES!! There was so much suspense, twists, and turns. I found myself sometimes laughing, yelling and crying at my kindle. This book is dark and full of raw emotion. Not only is it about amazing sex but It is a test of love and faithfulness in your spouse and a chance for one to find themselves and be comfortable with who they are and the biggest part is FORGIVENESS. Writing this is making me want cry.....I cried at the end of this book not because it was sad but because it was over. Gage and Kayla grew in so many ways throughout the whole series and I cannot and will not ever forget these characters. I am absolutely in awe of what I just read and hope you will read this amazing book because you will not be disappointed.
The Devil's Spawn: Gemma James has done it again! I have read the first three books in the series and I always felt after the Devil's Wife there was more story that needed to be told and good golly does Gemma James deliver!!!! I didn't know what I wanted in a fourth book if Gemma James decided to write one. All I knew is I wanted a 4th book with her amazing characters of Kayla and Gage. She is so in tune with the reader!!!!! She gave me everything I wanted in this final installment, things I didn't know I wanted in order to feel complete and have closure for this couple. There was darkness and we see the sadistic Gage we all know and love but there is so much more to him in this book that I was craving to have and didn't know I yearned for it! Kayla is in turmoil about herself as always but this time she is not alone. She has a partner, lover, master, owner who gives her an opinion and wants her to tell him things. His love shows for Kayla through his harsh punishments but in this novel we see his heart and his real love for her. We see Gage's emotions, vulnerability, thoughts and feelings. Its fantastic! In this book there was no more chase of cat and mouse. It was about creating trust with one another and going from two individual people made into one whole. All in all Gage showed his love and that he can love and also be a sadist, a husband, a father and the owner of control. Gage grew in this book. He captured my heart. He showed his fragility yet still kept his composure and control at all times. Kayla since the Devil's Kiss has wanted to keep her individuality and some sort of control in her life, she did not want to give it all to Gage. Gage senses this and works thoroughly hard and efficiently to get Kayla to submit and to give up her last ounce of control. To him that would mean she really loves him with all her heart and is the biggest form of trust he could ever have from her. So the question is are all the strings and pieces put together for the reader at the end? Are all questions we have answered? Is there closure for the reader? Do Gage and Kayla become their truest selves and are they meant to be together forever? Hmmm I am not sure read it to find out!!!
Simply put, like the disclaimer says there are bdsm edge situations with a dark theme. It is dark, the story is practically 50 Shades of Grey except the female protagonist is a single mother who siphoned money from her boss, Gage, to pay for her daughter's cancer treatments
The story has very little errors, but as someone who has witnessed their sibling in a situation much like how the situations are portrayed in the book... it gets very real. There is manipulation, deceit, abuse, etc. I'm not going to sugarcoat this for future readers, I skimmed/skipped pages of the sex/abuse to get back to some of the actual story.
As I said still undecided wether or not I will continue reading. The story is getting 4 stars as the author did forewarn us in the notes that it is a dark story. It's not getting a full 5/5 as it is damn near like 50 Shades.
He takes her to his basement dungeon sadism ensures, she responds (supposedly because its been so long. First time yeah, next 300 times, I'm thinking maybe no). Anywaaaay, emotions percolate, Stockholm syndrome emerges, happy, happy, joy, joy. Or rather formulaic bit followed by formulaic bit, until mercifully we are put out of our misery.
The true sadist here is the author. Me? I'm a not so closeted literary masochist.
Okay, so, 1) the presentation of this proposal in a modern work environment is ludicrous. Recorder on - trip to HR - kid's care is paid for by a triple damages lawsuit. (If no recorder a quick snapshot or two would suffice.)
2. This woman is a first time offender, With the the extremely low dollar amount, reason for the theft, no evidence of personal gain and her gainfully employed (or employable), the most she would see is probation. No jail time, not a whiff. 1 million k or even 100 thousand, maybe - If she gets a hanging judge - but no way for 10.
3. The most obvious solution is 100% passive compliance. Respond, cooperate, bow and scrape, even calling him Master but without any repeat, any emotional investment. Never. The only thing he gets are screams and tears.
4 whatever the initial response there is no conceivable way that a woman with a shred of self esteem responds sexually to this crap. Particularly when they have a 5 day break between sessionsb
A far more believable scenario would involve lots more money stolen and everyday sessions until benefit days are used up. Afternoons after that runs out, by that time depression would have set in and she would continue to show up because her sense of self worth had been crushed and the only reason she hasn't suicided is because of the daughter.
I am a fan of capture fantasy stuff but there has to be at least a 4 or 5 on the believability index. In additions the characters are lame. I cannot have the slightest compassion for her until she grows a set and some cognitive capacity. He on the other hand is just dead inside. Nothing to connect to.
Nice premise but others have done it better.
