About the Author
Eris writes subversive romance for people who hate romance novels. She writes fiction in whatever genre suits the tale that needs telling: historical, fantasy, sci-fi, paranormal, or anything that bends a little askew from expectations. Her stories are the stomping grounds for bada** heroines, untamable alphas, a spectrum of sexuality and a serious disregard for convention. Sometimes light and humorous, often dark and intense, if you’re looking for a break from reality, Eris writes for you. When she’s not staying up until the wee hours writing, Eris also likes to read, annoy her cats and husband, and obsess about writing some more.

Prim widow Hannah is naive to most worldly pleasures, but pirate captain Edmund Blackburn and his handy quartermaster Benjamin Till are more than happy to broaden her horizons. They might have a few things to learn from Hannah, as well. It isn't all fun and frolicking, though. Blackburn and Mr. Till have a plan, and it looks like Hannah could either be the key to their success or their downfall.
This is a dark-ish erotic romance that’s full of incredibly hot scenes but is also really well written. It has great characters and an even better story.
Best of all, this book is just fun to read.
This isn't your everyday romance - it's pretty dark, but it seems a little more true to life than some of the other pirate romances out there. If there even is such a thing.
Very recommended - I will watch out for more by this author.
On top of all of that there's a villain that seriously gave me the heebie jeebies. Adderly does something with her stories that not enough authors do - she writes a great story, that also has great sexy times in it! The dubious consent elements of this story were right up my alley and I loved every scene!! The end is also super badass and made me want to high five my kindle. You'll love it, I swear.
Hannah was a great character, feisty and very real in her emotions and ahead of her time. Edmund and Benjamin aren't your typical heroes, they have their good and bad sides. That is sometimes I really enjoy.
It has some darker elements, so it might not be for everyone, but if you love a bit of dark, then you will love it.
Eris Adderly has a gift of drawing the reader in with her word play, whether it’s leaving you panting from elegantly erotic descriptions or laughing at a bit of well timed humor. I adore the fact that Hannah is no damsel-in-distress. There may be times where her options are limited but she’s not one to sit idly by and let others decide things for her. And captain Edmund and his quartermaster Benjamin are not scoundrels simply out to pillage our fair maiden. All of the characters have a rich back story which makes their thoughts and actions believable.
Do yourself a favor. Buy this book today. Submerge yourself into the dark eroticism. Fall for the characters like I have. Then reread it to fall back in love with them all over again.
The characters in this book are awesome. They're realistic, flawed, and funny. They're sexy. They're curious. I couldn't stop reading this book and when it finally ended, my only regret is that I don't have two pirates in real life to whisk me away because the two in this book certainly stole my heart.
